AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1732) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | October 18, 2005 | All of Us

Posted on 10/18/2005 4:41:35 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

TROPICAL STORM WILMA ADVISORY PACKAGE #11

Discussion:

WILMA is nearly stationary, but strengthening, in the Caribbean. It will likely be a hurricane by the next advisory.

The blocking HP center north of WILMA will likely weaken later today, allowing the system to begin moving NW.

Previous guidance had WILMA heading for the east central GOMEX coastline of the United States, now it is on a trajectory for the Florida coastline near Naples.

This is important because the northern Gulf is cold, relatively speaking, and would be hard pressed to sustain a category III hurricane at this point in the season. By making the recurve where it is forecast, WILMA will stay over warmer waters, meaning southern Florida is increasingly likely the target of a category III, or major, hurricane strike. Winds are forecast at time of landfall, VT+110 hours, approximately, to be 115 MPH.

Remember VT+110 hours is out on day 5, and errors are large. There is still the possibility the storm will err westward, so folks along the eastern half of the American Gulf litorral should begin preparations.

In the news...

There appear to be some irregularities in the balloting in Iraq, and authorities are looking into precincts that have unusually high levels of "yes" ballots for the proposed Constitution. There were scattered reports of police making off with "No" boxes.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

The turnout rate was high in Afghanistan, right? To the press 'nuff said.

Logic is not their best attribute.

Yes, we're watching that storm. But we'll be mostly in Jacksonville with family so we should be alright.

Taunton, MA looks like a mess with mudslides and a dam ready to break.

MSNBC just said that the special prosecutor may announce indictments tomorrow

Did they indicate who might be indicted, and were they salivating?

Good morning all. Briefly checking in, we've arrived in the TX hill country. I had to take Mr. Prairie to the airport in San Antonio for an unplanned business trip back to Chi-town. Hopefully he's to return tomorrow.

The hill country is beautiful. I try to avoid characterizing it a "LBJ country".

:^P

No mention of who will be indicted, although from previous shows it's clear they expect it will be someone from the Bush administration.

Sounds like beautiful country...enjoy.

Leaving FL tomorrow for IL as scheduled. Hope Wilma doesn't blow our house down. We're in the Sarasota area. Going to tie down stuff, etc.

Toby ~~~ don't feel bad about getting food and stuff from the relief centers for your guests. If you had not taken them in, they would be in shelters and getting their food and stuff from ... relief centers. The fact that you have provided them with a nice roof over their heads shouldn't mean that you have to bear all the burden for feeding them and buying their necessities.

Watch for a FReepmail from me, dear Sir.

too funny... it seems some things with kids is about universal. Now it seems kids do just terrible things in comparison.

Thanks, Dolly. Enjoy the fine weather you're having.

CNN just showed a few seconds of Mayor Nagin testifying before Congress. I guess it's going on right now but FNC isn't showing it, although they showed former FEMA director Brown's testimony.

Yes, I did have a little nap...

I just finished "Pastoral" by Shute...actually reread it after about 25 years...

The one I started last night is "Breaking Wave"...

Both of these are paperbacks I found at the famous Powell's bookstore in Portland last week.

Now...wedding plans...

Jane, you're going to love this: They plan to go to Scotland next year...probably the fall...and get married in a country kirk there.

Our son ran this possibility by us first some months ago to judge our reaction. We're fine with it...

Future DIL has large family, and doesn't want large wedding, so this was an option which became THE option.

I salute you Jane, and all the mothers of the bride who plan weddings. That was not to be my fate anyway, so this is fine. It's their wedding, and we can have some kind of dinner or reception at some point here if we want to.

Anyway, they're working on all the details of the trip...the ceremony...etc.

Utah Girl, I'll be keeping your family in prayer for little Jacob....(((((Utah Girl))))

Dolly, it is a beautiful day in the valley!

Now, a little concerning news....Portland son has asthma it looks like, but he's so busy between work, social life, and school that he keeps putting off going to the dr....he would go to an HMO.

He needs to get on medication.

2/3rds, a call...will remember that for next time if no meeting possible. We spent nearly 2 of the days I was out there going to, checking out, and returning from Grand Junction, where my son had some workstuff to do. First time I'd been out there.

Bev, I sure loved our visit, the trip to the clinic, and meeting the Amazing Miss Lily. Hope the rest of your b.d. celebrations was wonderful!

Bit...okay, so now you're Beignet Bit?? OR, how about Bit of Beignet???? What other delectables are you cooking up???

Raven, enjoy the wedding visit! Did I miss the photo of the Father of the Groom???

Chairman, some 2 weeks ago, I noticed you posted a picture of an oil refinery...

That brought back lots of memories, as I grew up on the shadow - & smell! - of those s. of Houston.

Here's a pic of the main processing unit of such a refinery: The Cat Cracker...I always laughed at this name when my father mentioned this particular unit...he designed a number of these in various refineries around the country in his career as a chem engineer:

" A catalytic cracker, or "cat cracker," is the basic gasoline-making process in a refinery. The cat cracker uses high temperatures, low pressure, and a catalyst to create a chemical reaction that breaks heavy gas oil into smaller gasoline molecules. With a cat cracker, more of each barrel of oil can be turned into gasoline."

Of course there are other refinery products besides gasoline....

Reporting in.

My son, the Volunteer Firefighter just went flying out the driveway on his way to a field fire. Dry cornfields are prone to burning this time of year here. It only takes a spark off a machine of one kind or another to set them off.

I will be on standby to "Gofer" whatever they need. In the past, I have lined up farmers with tractors and plows to plow up a fireline, organized meals or whatever else they request by radio from the fire.

"Stay out of the way until you're asked for help" is a good motto whether you're a fire fighters Mom or a Mother in Law. I have practice.
