Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

So you had a Mama who spoiled doggies? My Daddy did that with our dachshund, Susie. He fixed that dog scrambled eggs every morning when he made his own breakfast. She had the purtiest coat of any dog I knew!
My sister spoiled her dog rotten, too. Her husband always said that when he died he wanted to come back as her dog!

The weird thing about that nature theme is that he uses it again when the Rohirrim arrive over the rise at Pellanor fields. Not sure why.I think it's the "Whup A$$" theme. The Ents have finally had it with Saruman, and the Rohirrim are ready to take on Sauron, so the same theme is blended into both attacks.

I'm guessing the horse and crossed sabres on the letterhead signifies Air Cav? I can tell you that my brother is VEY jealous of his son! Gerry graduated the AF Academy in 1969, and wanted desperately to fly helos. There was a program at the time that allowed AF pilots to train with the Army to learn to fly them, but Gerry was not allowed to join the program and ended up flying C-130s When Alexander joined the ROTC while at Johns Hopkins and said he wanted to fly helos, Gerry was THRILLED. He's living vicariously through him, for sure!

Whoops, sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday; kept finding articles to read in my Garden Gate :-)
How about a spreading "Prostrata" spruce (Picea pungens)? It is a gorgeous blue color, which would look good in Christmas decorations. Or there is always OB's favorite-Holly. Now you would need a male and a female plant to get the holly berries, but it is a evergreen. The biggest drawback to holly bushes is the leaves have sharp thorns, and they just become sharper over time.
And there is always the euonymus-E.fortunei (winter creeper euonymus) is a evergreen ground cover or low hedge, while E. kiautschovica (spreading euonymus) is a semi-evergreen shrub (to 10 feet) with conspicuous spring flowers. I'm not sure what semi-evergreen means...
Anyway, there is a lot of good stuff out there; I'll keep checking my magazines, I only got through about half of them last night.

Mornin', hon.
Gots lots to do today. We have to contact all of our clients and ask them if they want to process payrolls today because of Wilma.
And I thought today would be an easy day. ~sigh~

When I came in last night, she was in bed snoring. When I woke up, which was a little later than usual, she was already on her way out. Hopefully she'll feel like chatting tonight since I'm as eager as you to find out how it went!

Pity she can't chat at work...yet, anyways...
I was so busy yesterday I just came in a couple of times to check in on the hurricane but that was it!
Today should be calmer. Jedis have RA's tonight but not till 6:30pm.
