The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You can always stay in here with us where it's safe from all that, Corin.

But I understand that sometimes it's better to stay away than risk the tempation of wandering over to the News side and ending up angry.

That said...next First lady, huh?

That's beyond groovy, hon.

Well I was going to have the toaster kill a pawnshop shopper at some point. When putting Hair in the story made "the list" I thought she'd be great in the part. :)

So, in other news in the Stormhands' household...

We met with Luke's teacher today to review his progress. She showed us the testing she had done.

Out of a possible 102 points, the benchmark (where kindergartners ~should~ be) was 28.

Luke scored 94.

So, there's that.

I really, really thought about saying that. But thought it might be a little too obnoxious.

Naked fish...I bought a bag of frozen fish fillets at Wal-mart, 'cause I like 'em and they're quick. These had a picture of a nice little breaded fillet on the package, and we were in a hurry that night, so I didn't stop to read it.

As it turns out, they're raw and nekkid. No breading. I tried cooking one in the microwave, but it had a lot of...juice around it when it was done. Whilst pouring it off, the whole slippery fillet took a nose dive down the drain. *sniff*

But I baked a second. Looks better anyway. And I shall be careful not to dump it.

You don't want to go to that story hair. Come to mine instead. I just made you the owner of your own surplus strategic nuclear bomber with orbital loiter capability, power leather seats. moon roof, the works.

I guess I could always make it a near miss. But then I couldn't have anyone say "And all she wanted was a cheap DVD player."

Well, if we pull in the LG and AG and hold our own in the House of Delegates, I'd say part of my vote counted.

Virginia has been invaded before and we survived and became stronger. We're just waiting for the area North of Fredericksburg to declare themselves an independent state.

We fought for West Virginia. We'll throw a party when Northern Virginia leaves.
