The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

He only did it 'cause it squicked me.

He was funny that way.

When I see a man order a drink that has a lot of sweet liqueurs or fruit juices in it, I wonder.

Geez, I'm not tough, and I drink Cuba Libres!

Then I told him he owed me at *least* four years solid of being in a good mood.

Sounds like you've earned it.

But bourbon is mostly corn liquor.

We used to go the the store around the corner to get the Christmas Ham. Mr. Tyner slipped a quart jar of a golden liquid in the box. That Christmas, after Midnight Mass, was the first time I EVER saw my Daddy the least bit tipsy. ;o)

did as he was told, then promptly threw up all over the table.

I think that's what I did with the brussels sprouts... I physically gagged, and I wasn't fakin'! Mom could tell it was serious then...

Good morning!

"Mix it all up! It all goes down the same gullet!"

Yeah, but it has to get by the taste buds first.

You know... I've been trying hard to get over my picky eating habits... but a few more menu suggestions like that and I'll be eating bread and butter exclusively for the rest of my life. ;-)

Morning!

I now dip green beans and French fries in ranch dressing.

I think my family has a congenital disposition toward odd flavor mixes.

G'mornin! I start my Hydrobics this morning. I think I'm gonna be seriesly 'stove up' this evening. I didn't go to last week's classes, which was the first week of classes, because I was concerned I'd pull something and would be in pain before our trip to FL. ;o)

I eat green beans like other people eat peanuts, or popcorn.

Blanch 'em, boil 'em, fry 'em up ... I'll eat green beans anyway I can get 'em, except raw.

And then I cover 'em up with ranch dressing.

Well, that's not so odd... Ranch dressing goes with everything. I don't like ketchup so I've always dipped fries in ranch.

I put ranch dressing on pizza :~D

It seems from the email that the creative component or report can actually be from the data he collected for the thesis and that's good. He won't have to just toss the whole thing.

Oh, now that is a relief! So all the time invested thus far was not wasted.

Still keeping y'all in my prayers.

Yeah, I was thinking along these lines too...

Bourbon for the general, and Martini for the weasel. BTW, I saw an add for a Hazelnut martini this weekend. I had to do a double take. That just sounds gross.

I almost can't believe I have a kid who ~doesn't~ like Mexican food!

It'd be like me having a kid that didn't want a pony. That's why we're not risking it by having them. :~D

Bah.... children are moldable little balls of potential. Nothing more fun than messing one up, er, influencing a kid to a life of geekery and weirdness.

hehe, I put Pace's with grated cheese and sour cream on my taters, be they mashed or baked. Also put that combo on scrambles eggs. When I was expecting KarateBoy, I would put the eggs on my taters too, with all that other stuff.
