The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We've had two groups. Yaaay.

I'm trolling the nanoboards...waiting....and plotting.

I'm rearing to go already!

You have midnight an hour earlier or I'd offer to stay up too... but I'd probably be sorry tomorrow.

I need to plot out my first chapter a little better. Or I'll just wing that too! Yippy!

I need a good first line.

The first scene is a press conference. And just to be cliche, the MC hates being up in front of the press. I need something pithy for her to think to herself, something besides, "I hate press conferences."

"Whatever you do, *don't* imagine them all naked", she thought to herself.

because everytime she does she smirks. And smirking just makes the press conference experience worse.

I like the nekkid angle. May I steal it?

Take it! I don't need a line like that!

I might but I don't think I need that one.

Unless we made it an Item, like the toaster and the aloe plant. It could be my contribution.

They've started to appear.

Pounding on my door...filling the air with their blood-thirsty cries....

We cannot get out...

I didn't do candy this year. We've got the little bags of goldfish, mini-oreos, doritos and cheetos. The first group of kids came to the door and Clare answered it. I heard a little girl say, "You're not selling candy?" She liked the oreos, though.

Heh....of course it didn't help that I'm kinda on the dense side Monday mornings.

Still....I like Overland Park better than Olathe.

LOL! The last group of beggars had a dad in-tow that recognized the Club Gitmo shirt!

Cracks me up.

I think KMBZ is playing War of the Worlds tonight. Might give a listen. But I'll probably listen later since I've got it on my hard drive.
