The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Just got back from Publix, it wasn't crowded, though they were nearly out of paper plates!

A complete carnival atmosphere, everyone laughing and talking to each other, to complete strangers, like they were all at a party. Hard to account for it, I guess they are excited that it's finally going to come in.

Yellowface is finally out and the wind a little brisk. No frost damage that I can see.

Agenda: watch race, get plot together, make chicken pot pie. Got the chicken boiling already.

Heh, we're gonna be in Naples in two weeks. I hope no other storms will be coming through about that time. I don't mind being IN one. Been there, done that. I just don't like the thought of flying in during any feeder bands on the outside edges of it. I'm not a happy flyer anyway, but I sure as heck don't like turbulence!

the 20.5 gr RE7 with a Speer 50 gr HP had the best group, 1" at 100 yds... this was the lightest load I tried, still throws 'em at about 2800 fps... still fast enuff tuh turn a varmint intuh a red cloud...

If this is for that ancient AR180, that's mighty fine accuracy for something designed to be a cheap replacement for the AR15.

Yeah, a Cat 1 is only a minor inconvenience! Stay safe, anyway!

Weather weenies (or at least one of them) thinks Wilma and TS Alpha are going to merge off the NE coast and give you folks some problems.

Walgreens only had a handful of people in it! I was able to get everything I had on the list, except AC filters. :-D

Same atmosphere there, for the most part. Maybe folks are just happy to not have to work tomorrow.

Cat 1 is a severe tropical storm, IMHO. But like I said earlier, tornadoes are what worry me.

Stay safe, Ruthy!

Good morning / afternoon. I'm back from church and having a late breakfast of French toast. Then I'm gonna bake some cookies for the week ahead and otherwise goof off.

Ramius' tagline used to have the right words, something along the lines of "so we come to it at last...the pieces are moving, etc!"

~sigh~

I wish I could have gotten out of here. This is gonna suck.

Been trying all morning to convince my sisters to come over and ride Wilma out here with us. No point to them sitting alone in their homes wondering if we're OK and us sitting here wondering if they're OK.

I wouldn't wanna be alone with a storm coming through, that's for sure. Just makes sense to gather together if you can.

Heh, the morning walk was kinda brisk, though Gypsygirl, of course, loved it. LSA had forgotten her sunglasses so we were glad Yellowface had decided to go behind the clouds.

Got more field work coming up, seems everyone just realized it was time to get it done. Was doing wetland delineations and habitat surveys up near Weston, adjacent to the MO river Friday, will be back up there Tuesday. Nice area to work in, the wetlands were shallow though they came up to an inch of my boot tops. Walked verrrry slowly in those areas.

Maybe they want to do the thing where you roam the house all night with a flashlight looking for branches through the ceiling.

No branches in the ceiling please!

And I'd like my roof to stay right where it is. :-D

Off to finish the patio and the laundry.

That sounds like an excellent idea. Good planning on the coffee. Stay safe and let others do the weather photography and video.

Good grief!

Glen shows up to lend me a hand and within minutes has managed to step on a nail. Went right through his flip-flop into his foot.

Administered first aid and he's back out there finishing the job. *rolls eyes*

It doesn't help that he's slightly hung over.

Hehehe....my Dad used to hope for roof damage so the insurance would pay for his new roof.
