The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The thing is...nobody wanted to go! I had to beg everyone to go! Steve just wants to sit when he's home and the jedis just thought it would be another time where mom walked around looking at old cars while they stood in the hot sun.

But I suspected I'd at least get to watch the commercial airliners take off and I love that. (Our airport is right next to the Air National Guard.)

Everyone agreed that going had been a very good idea.

I've learned to stick a few solid frozen chicken tenders in a microwaveable dish and cook 'em for about 5 minutes on high...when I take them out, they're done for all practical purposes. It just don't look too pretty.

Then I heat up a little olive oil or butter and brown them real quick. Within just a few minutes I can have hot chicken tenders for use in tacos or chopped and used in stir fry or on top of a salad.

I don't even bother browning it for chicken and rice soup...I just dice it up and stir it in to some chicken broth with some rice and heat it on the stove. ( I always keep cooked rice in the fridge...we eat a lot of rice.)

Joshua loves it.

I sure am enjoying this new microwave!

I can make a scrambled egg taco with cheese and picante sauce in about 3 minutes.

"Pity? Pity stoppa heem. Issa bombad people gonna die, so. Some gooda people gonna die too. Gonna stop heem? Then don't speed yous to killin' to pew-nish."

--Boss Nass as Gandalf

Compare if you've forgotten: "Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Many that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too hasty to deal out death in judgement>"

A pretty good day. Breakfast with friends, and then off to apartment hunt. Mildly successful.

Unless something changes, I'll be moving into an OK place in mid December. Frankly, I hope a nicer place becomes available, but the place I'm set to get is adequate.

Then off to the current home and a selection of 3 bullet-launchers and other necessaries; stop back by friends' and pick up the paterfamilias, then off to a local indoor range where we perforated paper for distance and accuracy.

An afternoon in a park with the family, and a picnic lunch; a hot shower and a little freepin' later, I'm feeling pretty good.

So there you have it :)
