NarniaFans.com: Have you read the Chronicles, and if so, when did you first read them?
Shane Rangi: I have to be honest straight off the bat with this one.... I'm not the reading type. I'm more of a magazine pictures man. You know the one... Skip through a mag until you see a picture that catches your eye. Read the little caption underneath it and then stare at the picture in a dreamy state making up my own story. But! The one and only book that I have read word for word without skipping any pages was The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe!! I was 9 years old, living with my Grandparents in the wop wops (out in the sticks or on a farm miles away from civilization surrounded by bush) going to a school with 25 students.
NarniaFans.com: What are your memories of that?
Shane Rangi: I have a couple of memories that are still close to me as if it was only yesterday. The first was the awe and amazement of Narnia. That magical feeling it gave me whenever I picked it up to read. So real that I could feel the cold chill in the air on my skin.
The Sorrow I felt when Aslan sacrificed himself at the stone table.
The disappointment. Yes. Disappointment I suffered for weeks, actually months, after I had finished the book.

What?

How did this guy get through life only having read one book in his whole life?
I've read most of the Narnia stories. They helped me get some sleep. Lewis's greatest works were non fiction.
However, I will go see the movie.
The same way most Democrats do. By putting their heads in the sand and pretending that they already know everything worth knowing.
Please add me to your ping list - thanks!
There are lines in his fiction works that I remember as strongly as bible verses.
"I have a feeling he likes to be asked". (on why Aslan didn't give Digory enough food for a journey)
"Haven't you heard what I said? Of course, he isn't safe. But he's good." (Mrs. Beaver, on Aslan.
My child, no one is told anyone's story but his own". (Aslan, after being asked about someone else's faults).
They are wonderful books to learn doctrine and understand the ways of God. Whenever my kids would ask abour prayer for something, we would say, "I have a feeling he likes to be asked".
Well, I know democrats who read quite a few books, although for the most part I think they are romance novels...but they do seem convinced they know everything worth knowing and they do grow agitated when confronted with real facts.
I'm looking forward to seeing this with my daughter. She and I played evil minions in our church's production of this a few years ago. My husband said it was frightening at how well we both played evil characters. ;-) It was a lot of fun!
That is because you are confusing them and disturbing the fantasy world they have so carefully built.
I make no comment about the particular actor who made this comment. But I will say this about many in the Entertainment business: they don't read. They are profoundly ignorant. But ... they are So-Much-Smarter-Than-You-And-You-Should-Just-Shut-Up-And-Drink-In-Their-Wisdom.
Barbara Streisand and Richard Gere fall into this category.
Don't you think it is unreasonable to expect Barbara Streisand to read a book? After all, she might crack a nail turning the pages.
Lucy: Aslan, you're bigger.I've enjoyed these books since childhood and this quote still gets to me.
Aslan: That is because you are older, little one.
Lucy: Not because you are?
Aslan: No. But every year you grow older, you will find me a little bigger.
Now we have proof: it's Bush's fault that the poor kid didn't read.
Very few well-compensated, working actors have been to college, many did not graduate from high school.
I recently read a piece on Bing Crosby and he was mentioning what books he was reading, and the authors were not lightweights by any means. And it seemed clear to me that he wasn't trying to impress anyone. It's just that 40 years ago, grownups read grownup books.
Ashton Kucher doesn't do that. But if he did, it might make up for the fact that he didn't go to college.
