It floored me, too. I loved nursing, but when I lost a 32 year old patient because I did not have enough nurses, that just about did it. I went into the business world a year after that. When DRG's came in, the whole concept of good patient care changed. I could not take it. If I couldn't take care of people the way I had been taught, I just couldn't stay in the hospital.

WOW... Im going through something very similar..
Im not questioning my career as a nurse, but where Im working.. I am NOT one that gets emotional over my patients..I cant work that way..but I have one right now that is draining me.. and hes being treated terribly and its just breaking my heart.
