Well, it's not really demanding so much as begging, pleading, and irritating until I give in and tell them or show them all, just to get them to leave me alone on the matter.

Sounds like emotional manipulation to me.

Well, I am sorry to have to say this, but your mother needs to get a life!

I hope it does not offend you but I have to agree with GoodGirlInRed.

Gotta go, gotta check on the bungals game and fix a friend's Big screen. Be back later.

Well, it is Jags 20 and the Bengals 13, I'm watching the game here (on my 1982 Zenith, the newest main set we have) because it is of interest to a Steeler's fan like me. B-)

Yeah, Mothers are like that sometimes. Since you are her only child, I can kind of see where she is coming from. However, I never tried to set any of my children up. They all got married in their early 20's.

"I think you're very cool. In fact, I may soon respond to your last mail."

It just sounded like you didn't think she was cool enough for you to answer before.

It was kind of funny.

You're right about Moms/Daughters. My Mom is my best friend as well. She still gets on my nerves occasionally... but it's a minor annoyance. (she treats me like I'm 15 at times) I think she just worries about me too much. She's now 70.... is in Real Estate and runs circles around me! LOL

So, still out of college, I started looking for a job around here. I did not find one, and ended up having to work as a pizza delivery boy (you think YOUR gas bill was high :)

I know that feeling, been thereand done that in my '94 Ford Explorer. I knew somebody who did it in a 1983 Oldsmobile Toronado with the 305 cu in V8 when I did that in 2000. He still delievers but for KFC and he still drives that 1983 Olds.

Recently, we went out of business, but my manager there is getting me a much better-paying office job. Doesn't start till the end of January, though. I hope to be out of here by maybe next April or so. We'll see. Life never goes how you plan it, though.

Tell me about it, at least I have a better paying job now in accounts payable for a major ground shipping company. That reminds me, I'm on document scanning all week. B-)

Hmm...I didn't even realize that. Sorry, Goodgirl. Call it a typo in responding.

Yep. My mother wants to teach me how to handle my own finances. Since my husband died, I have been having a bookkeeper in his former business pay all of my bills for me and keep up with the paperwork.

Pretty pitiful when I think that I used to have to do a line by line $1,000,000 budget for the district that I managed and write a business case for it, too.

Since my husband was an accountant, he handled all of the financial matters for us. I did not see any reason to be involved. My motto was, if you have a guard dog, why do the barking yourself? Bad mistake. Who would have thought that he would die so young?

And every time you post, I get "Nowhere Man" stuck in my head.

BTw, that Beatles song, I chose that for my CB radio handle and I use it a lot online (sometimes I'm "Nowhereman1966") on Feee Dominion and other places) since when I was a kid, I knew I was a little different plus the song was from 1966. Last year, I did some research and the Beatles did release the song, "Nowhere Man," on July 8th, 1966, the exact date I was born. Now that's weird. B-)

I didn't mean to hurt your feelings -- it's just one of those FR things where you post something that is interpreted differently than what you meant. That's what I meant by it was kind of funny.

I love my Mom to death, I hope I wasn't badmouthing her too badly.

You see, the last time I really tried to get to know a girl was last September/October. Mom and a friend of hers out of state conspired to set me up with this girl the friend knew. While visiting the friend out-of-state, I was introduced to the girl, and we traded e-mails.

I liked the girl, and Mom and the friend were thrilled to death. We, the girl and I, started e-mailing, and everything seemed to be going fine...although Mom couldn't get over it, and had to read all our e-mails. The girl--who made it clear she was thoroughly uninterested in me romantically--said she didn't mind if my Mom read anything.

But I liked the girl and hoped she'd change her mind (a dose of experience for everyone who hasn't been there...if someone doesn't like you, they're not going to change their minds).

Long story short, or a little shorter, things came to a horrible end, and this girl and I never spoke again. Mom...and her friend...insisted in getting involved, and that made things a whole lot worse.

Since then, Mom has promised to keep out of my business if I ever meet a girl and try again, but I'm skeptical. And she's still trying to find me girls to set me up with. You'd think she'd learned her lesson.

Don't feel bad. My real Grandmother turns 80 this month.

My other one...actually, I don't know her that well. She lives in CA, and visits occasionally. No idea how old she is.
