Yep. My mother wants to teach me how to handle my own finances. Since my husband died, I have been having a bookkeeper in his former business pay all of my bills for me and keep up with the paperwork.

Pretty pitiful when I think that I used to have to do a line by line $1,000,000 budget for the district that I managed and write a business case for it, too.

Since my husband was an accountant, he handled all of the financial matters for us. I did not see any reason to be involved. My motto was, if you have a guard dog, why do the barking yourself? Bad mistake. Who would have thought that he would die so young?

Wow... Just the opposite here. Before I went into nursing... I used to do bookkeeping and would contract out to companies to set their systems up on computers. I think I did it in self-defense, actually. My ex would make a mess out of things...then have me straighten it out. When we started our biz....I took over the finances. (I think that was his plan from the getgo) When we divorced... it took him a year to figure out how to balance a checkbook. It's never wise to have one person do everything......as you stated. It's confusing to come into the details at the end of the game. In your case......MAN.......I feel sorry for you having to wade through everything with what you had put on your plate!
