That's the same rationale they use for not dislosing the race of a suspect (whom we are supposed to be looking for) on the TV news. The whole "guilt by association" thing.

No it is not. This story has already been covered IN DETAIL! We have the suspects. We are dealing with them in court. These pictures uncover nothing new. The only thing that will happen with the release of these pictures is more bloodshed of our troops. I am not OK with that.

Since everyone already knows what is in the pictures, why would it result in more attacks on the troops? You think someone who might not otherwise attack the troops is just kicking back on the couch drinkin a beer right now, and this well-known pictures are going to all of a sudden cause him to strap a bomb to himself and fling himself into a Jeep?

I doubt it. The people who want to fight already have their reasons.

P.S. Don't treat prisoners of war like animals unless you want the world to know you treat your prisoners of war like animals. If it is going to disgrace the nation, just don't do it. Then, there will be nothing to hide.

Bury it as much as possible to protect the church as a whole from scorn. Everyone knew it happened, so no need for anyone else to come forward.

You assume in your arguments that everybody in the world views things in the same way or is provided information in the same way. You have no idea how these new pictures will be presented in foreign countries. They may be portrayed as a brand new event or govt's may spin it to make people think that we have not taken care of the problem.

Censorship of national issues is one thing. Not realizing that other countries do not follow our censorship rules is asinine.

Yes, but they can fabricate photos with photoshop or do any number of things tomake us look however they want. Countries can invoke whatever propoganda campaigns that they wish. I'm sure in some countries they are told that we eat babies and fornicate with farm animals. Everyone in every country is told that the people of other countries do nasty things. Such is life.

I wonder what argument changed Judge Hellerstein's mind? Please read the article that I found dated August 31, 2005 where Judge Hellerstein is quoted as saying, " The judge questioned whether he could disregard arguments by Gen. Richard B. Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who has warned that releasing the photos would aid al Qaeda recruitment, weaken the Afghan and Iraqi governments and incite riots against U.S. troops.

"How can I ignore the expert opinion of Gen. Myers, who is concerned with the safety of his troops?" the judge asked. "I can't substitute my opinion for the opinion of Gen. Myers."

He said troops in Iraq "face danger every day and don't deserve to have that danger enlarged.""
