If they uncover nothing new, then what are you worried about?

To Americans, this is an old story. To foreign countries, it may be made into something else. You assume in your arguments that everybody in the world views things in the same way or is provided information in the same way. You have no idea how these new pictures will be presented in foreign countries. They may be portrayed as a brand new event or govt's may spin it to make people think that we have not taken care of the problem.

Censorship of national issues is one thing. Not realizing that other countries do not follow our censorship rules is asinine.

P.S. Don't treat prisoners of war like animals unless you want the world to know you treat your prisoners of war like animals. If it is going to disgrace the nation, just don't do it. Then, there will be nothing to hide.

So even though those who treated prisoners like animals have already been given their sentence, the nation should be disgraced again for the same story AFTER we have taken action?

Yes, but they can fabricate photos with photoshop or do any number of things tomake us look however they want. Countries can invoke whatever propoganda campaigns that they wish. I'm sure in some countries they are told that we eat babies and fornicate with farm animals. Everyone in every country is told that the people of other countries do nasty things. Such is life.

I think this is a poor reason to censor legitimate news photos to the American public.

So we she dumb our censorship rules down to the lowest common denominator? I thought "freedom" was what made us "great"?

We just assume the whole issue is known.

Apparently there are pictures we haven't seen. Maybe there is more to the story. Maybe there isn't. Show them, and let people decide for themselves. Let's not encourage the state to think for us.
