Did anybody catch the conference on Fox News today where Governor Blanco asked President Bush to change the rules to allow her to pay the salaries of the NOPD police department with Federal dollars?
Remember, this is the same police department where one third left, a few others were filmed looting, and who basically lost control of the city. Some of them were sent to Vegas for some R&R and counseling (all expenses paid I'd bet).
And never ever forget, that this is the same police deparment who implemented and enforced an illegal confiscation of weapons from law abiding citizens at a time when those citizens needed them the most.
Paying the salaries of the corrupt gun grabbing NOPD Police Department is not the responsibility of the U.S. taxpayer, though I suspect a few of us would be happy to contribute to fund their incarceration for violating the Constitutional rights of the citizens of New Orleans.
I hope the President does not "bend" the rules on this one.
Seems like Blanko wants the fed to give her a blank check for the entire state. What's the state been operating on. The recent demand by state senators for over 225 billion is outragious. They figure no one is looking and pork everyting else in while they can.

Is there some restriction on the use of FEMA disaster relief funds? Couldn't she just use the money FEMA gives in these situations & pay the police?

If they had taken the monies they had been given all along, and either build a hugh wall, like Galivaston did, or have the levees fixed and up to date, none of this would have happend,
But as you all read the other day, they found all these supplies that were suppost to go to the evacuees and they were in his house...how much money have these RATS taken and made their people live in proverty????
I think there should be an investigation all right, but not to see why Our President was a little slow on this problem, but where did all the past monies go????

I want some answers to where all the monies went, and then we'll talk about giving them more....
The fact that they can't even pay for an essential service like the police force is very telling. Louisiana needs to be turned upside down and shaken so that we can see whose all pockets the money falls out of.
I know. It was pitiful to watch. I might have cried if I hadn't been busy screaming at the tv. ;-)
