CAT IV HURRICANE RITA ADVISORY PACKAGE #23

RITA has completed an eyewall replacement cycle and maximum winds are at 140 MPH and an eye that is 40 miles in diameter. Recon aircraft noted a new wind maxiuma at 65 miles from center, so it is possible that RITA is beginning yet another eyewall replacement cycle.
Course guidance is solid through landfall and up to VT +72 hours. Landfall is predicted near Sabine Pass, TX. As RITA is again over the Loop Current, some strengthening could take place; however, shear is increasing from the south. If strengthening occurs as forecast, landfall should occur with 145 MPH winds.
After landfall, a major flooding event appears to be shaping up for Arkansas and NE Texas as RITA will likely stall near Texarkana at VT +72 hours.
Landfall is forecast for 5 AM CT tomorrow.

Good Friday morning. I got up about 5:15 this morning and looked outside - stars are still visible. Radar showed an outter band from Rita had passed.
Bus caught on fire on IH-45 south of Dallas. Full of elderly evacuees. I saw from Fox News the fire has now been put out. No report yet on injuries.
Yankees won again last night - full game ahead in first place!
sounds like what goes on here .... one thing after another. we had a power outage last night.Before the major thunderboomers & god's firework display, I turned off all computer & unplugged everything.
I have several new surge protectors but just better safe than sorry. Both dogs were shaking under my feet & two cats were trying to crawl under my skin as I was unplulgging all etc.
It is such a mess of wires etc. It is bad with one but I have 3 computers, one w/dsl, one modem & one graphics only & all the associated connecter wires for external hard drives & related equipemetn. Each computer has its own printer & 2 have scanners. You would not believe the number of wires involved all on one 7 foot desk set up.

Need to punch out a power point for sunday church & some work for PM youth programming before I see if I can get away Sat for DC..

The news about the bus is really bad. FNF is positing that the oxygen tanks may have caused or contributed to the explosion. That makes sense. They could have rolled on the floor and .... Oxygen is very explosive. So very sad.
