Life's changes are always such that you never expect them, and they take a minute or three to get used to when they occur.
My life is taking a turn now that is forcing me to give up writing Ramblings' Journal.
I've accepted a new position that will preclude me from continuing my writings here. So I'm pulling the plug on R/J in order to focus on the new opportunity that has been placed before me.
Contrary to the opinions of others, I'm not running for office (I don't have the patience), nor am I joining a monastary. But I am turning the page on this chapter of my life, and moving forward. I'm very thankful for the friendships I've developed as a result of the blog, and I'm still going to be around -- you never know when an e-mail from me or a note in your comments section will show up to jab you or give you a thumbs up.
I want to say a special thank you to my Conservative Brotherhood bretheren, and encourage you to take a look at their blogs -- they are each fantastic writers in their own right. Their views are varied and they are each outspoken in their own ways. Their work is beginning to show up elsewhere, which makes me both happy and proud to know them.
The other blogs I've participated in -- Blogcritics and The Dead Pool -- are both worth your time and your thoughts. (Laurence, I'm still in the pool, even though I don't have a bunch of points. And Eric, I'm sorry that I hadn't had the opportunity to do more critiques in the past.)
A huge thank you to the Mu.nu community -- they've been incredibly supportive and fantastic. Pixy, you're the best.
I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize to you in advance.
I've asked Pixy to pull the plug next weekend.
Life's changes happen all the time, and for reasons known and unknown. All I can do is to step out on the path that God has lain for me, and know that He is at my side during my journey. I'm also happy to have my wife and my kids with me - they help keep me grounded. After twenty years (it'll be twenty years in a week and a half) of wedded bliss, I'm certainly happy.
Thanks again to everyone. God bless you all, and I'm sure we'll see each other 'round the 'net.

My apologies. Your original statement, as written, does not communicate that clearly; that is, "I don't know what you're talking about" doesn't automatically lead one to intuit, therefore, "we're discussing a thread about which I don't actually have any first-hand knowledge." :)
I accept the clarification of your (originally) intended meaning. I'm still more than a bit justifiably raw (obviously!) over being moronically tagged a "Stormfronter," this past week or so. Again: apologies.
OPINION
I've been in a thread or two where I've gotten into virtual rumbles.
The Admin Mods just start throwing random buckets of cold water to stop it.
I cannot figure out the rhyme or reason as to why some posts get pulled, why others don't and I've taken it personally.
I do need to remind that there is more than one moderator. No one knows what moderator is deleting vs. the other. What might look ok to one, could be read differently by the other.
Also, the mods aren't usually reading along with us, they get called to a post when abuse is hit. So if something got pulled, and something else left...The one that was left is not necessarily 'ok', it just didn't get called to. Or, the abuse button might have been hit while the mod left their desk.
Well okay then... I understand. That's why I try not call names without concrete proof :( esp. stormfronter. That's pretty bad.
I think this country is meant for people who value freedom, and who understand their responsibility to live life responsibly and in a self-reliant manner, so that freedom can be maintained, regardless of race (or religion).
I overlook a lot of unbelievably ignorant things that are said on Free Republic about my faith, Mormonism.
What matters is that those of us who understand how blessed we are to live in America, and appreciate the political structure that has given us unparalleled freedom and opportunity, can unite and preserve it.
Once we've accomplished that, we can work out the other issues.

I'm sure he is a nice fellow, however, life in general is not easy and is full of hills and potholes. Running away or quitting doesn't seem to be what this site is all about. Never the less, I bid him a fond farewell.
I think it was this one. He had only two other posts after that, and those posts were about nothing, really.
He was strongly in agreement with "paripassu" who was also banned. That paripassu was a real piece of work, too.

It's the mindless groupthink ad hominem attacks I had to put up with, afterwards, that grates my cheese, ultimately.
People need to exercise just a weeeeeee bit more discretion before carelessly slinging around epithets such as "racist," "Klansman" and "Stormfronter" with giddy abandon -- period, end of sentence, end of paragraph.
I have a 7,000+ post "history," here; and FR has a perfectly serviceable Search function. Anyone genuinely curious as to whether or not I'm a racist has more than ample means and opportunity to decisively settle the matter... before (rather than AFTER) posting on the topic.
That's nothing more than simple, garden variety online courtesy, really. :)

Trolls aren't anything more than epithet slingers.
There are even trolls I've come across that are the same person signed in under different nics to lend a group effect.
I've even come across 'sleeper' trolls here.
Then, there are the people of the world that have absolutely no perception at all that throw out the 'well, all the *insert group of religion or race* I've spoke to.....' as if that justifies or gives them permission for being a dult.
Can't hide from the world. Can't force feed people IQs. Ignore them or crawl under a rock.
