"Goodbye, farewell and amen"
Life's changes are always such that you never expect them, and they take a minute or three to get used to when they occur.
My life is taking a turn now that is forcing me to give up writing Ramblings' Journal.
I've accepted a new position that will preclude me from continuing my writings here. So I'm pulling the plug on R/J in order to focus on the new opportunity that has been placed before me.
Contrary to the opinions of others, I'm not running for office (I don't have the patience), nor am I joining a monastary. But I am turning the page on this chapter of my life, and moving forward. I'm very thankful for the friendships I've developed as a result of the blog, and I'm still going to be around -- you never know when an e-mail from me or a note in your comments section will show up to jab you or give you a thumbs up.
I want to say a special thank you to my Conservative Brotherhood bretheren, and encourage you to take a look at their blogs -- they are each fantastic writers in their own right. Their views are varied and they are each outspoken in their own ways. Their work is beginning to show up elsewhere, which makes me both happy and proud to know them.
The other blogs I've participated in -- Blogcritics and The Dead Pool -- are both worth your time and your thoughts. (Laurence, I'm still in the pool, even though I don't have a bunch of points. And Eric, I'm sorry that I hadn't had the opportunity to do more critiques in the past.)
A huge thank you to the Mu.nu community -- they've been incredibly supportive and fantastic. Pixy, you're the best.
I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize to you in advance.
I've asked Pixy to pull the plug next weekend.
Life's changes happen all the time, and for reasons known and unknown. All I can do is to step out on the path that God has lain for me, and know that He is at my side during my journey. I'm also happy to have my wife and my kids with me - they help keep me grounded. After twenty years (it'll be twenty years in a week and a half) of wedded bliss, I'm certainly happy.
Thanks again to everyone. God bless you all, and I'm sure we'll see each other 'round the 'net.
'Bye.
The comments that were deleted had nothing to do with commenting on the antics of the self appointed soul patrol of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.
RDB3 left too?
Yup, I posted before I read on. I should know better.
Every discussion I've seen on this topic hereabouts, since The Thread That Dare Not Speak Its own Name -- EVERY discussion, mind -- has had the same gaggle on display, breezily tarring everyone with a censured posting therein as a drooling, hair-knucled Klansman wannabe -- no exceptions.
If finer distinctions are now (finally) being made... wonderful.
Unconscionably and insultingly late, mind you... but: wonderful, nonetheless.
I've no idea why your comment was pulled.
The posts that stand out as having been offensive to me in recent months include this sampling of sentiments from various FReepers (some still here and some not):
That this country was meant for the Northern European descendants of the nation's Forefathers.
That third generation Americans with hispanic surnames shouldn't be trusted to hold positions of security because their loyalties might be with Mexico.
That the races shouldn't "mix".
And, that's just a drop in the bucket.
I've said about the same stuff about Al S. before, and never got that pulled. Maybe it was just done trying to keep things semi-calm. I don't know.
I'm just an anonymous guy on a message board, but I'm usually pretty good about getting a handle on people. I would honestly believe Rush Limbaugh was gay before I'd believe Kent would post anything intentionally racist.
TheBigB hates discord among friends. :(
Incorrect. Mine were. To be precise: in response to the comment that some NO residents were reported to be involuntarily stopping bullets being fired their way, at that point, my own comment was: "Too bad one of them [the bullets] wasn't stopped by that race-pimp, Sharpton."
You're welcome.
He has returned. ;O)
Thanks, Big B. :)
I don't know what you're talking about. I do know that the reasons that prompted Mike and Rod to leave weren't over statements such as those.
Well, I've noticed that posts advocating the shooting or violence toward public figures (perhaps with Osama as a rare exception) tend to be discouraged and often deleted here.
Thank goodness. Now if we can get MHKING back! He is holding the Just Damn ping list hostage :D
He's back too :-)
No, sir. You (evdiently) don't know what you're talking about. You just stated, less than ten minutes ago: "The comments that were deleted had nothing to do with commenting on the antics of the self appointed soul patrol of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson."
I just now pointed out that this was... ummmmm... a misstatement of the actual facts, in my case
End of story.
Meticulously never "advocated" anything, thanks. Very specifically stated profound regret over the fact that he managed to dodge his just reward in this life, is all.
Big, BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG diff between the two. :)
Why are you getting hostile? What I meant by saying 'I don't know what you're talking about' was that I was not in that thread where your comment was removed. The level of commentary that prompted Mike and Rod to leave had nothing to do with what you posted. It was more than that. Sheesh.
I don't know that I'd have pulled your post, but I'm not a mod. (However, I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night).
I hope they come back too
Those were the now banned FReeper TAquinas' words. He said that crap all the time.
If you want a Google GMail account, FReepmail me.
They're going fast!
