"Goodbye, farewell and amen"
Life's changes are always such that you never expect them, and they take a minute or three to get used to when they occur.
My life is taking a turn now that is forcing me to give up writing Ramblings' Journal.
I've accepted a new position that will preclude me from continuing my writings here. So I'm pulling the plug on R/J in order to focus on the new opportunity that has been placed before me.
Contrary to the opinions of others, I'm not running for office (I don't have the patience), nor am I joining a monastary. But I am turning the page on this chapter of my life, and moving forward. I'm very thankful for the friendships I've developed as a result of the blog, and I'm still going to be around -- you never know when an e-mail from me or a note in your comments section will show up to jab you or give you a thumbs up.
I want to say a special thank you to my Conservative Brotherhood bretheren, and encourage you to take a look at their blogs -- they are each fantastic writers in their own right. Their views are varied and they are each outspoken in their own ways. Their work is beginning to show up elsewhere, which makes me both happy and proud to know them.
The other blogs I've participated in -- Blogcritics and The Dead Pool -- are both worth your time and your thoughts. (Laurence, I'm still in the pool, even though I don't have a bunch of points. And Eric, I'm sorry that I hadn't had the opportunity to do more critiques in the past.)
A huge thank you to the Mu.nu community -- they've been incredibly supportive and fantastic. Pixy, you're the best.
I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize to you in advance.
I've asked Pixy to pull the plug next weekend.
Life's changes happen all the time, and for reasons known and unknown. All I can do is to step out on the path that God has lain for me, and know that He is at my side during my journey. I'm also happy to have my wife and my kids with me - they help keep me grounded. After twenty years (it'll be twenty years in a week and a half) of wedded bliss, I'm certainly happy.
Thanks again to everyone. God bless you all, and I'm sure we'll see each other 'round the 'net.
'Bye.
Well, some of us are blowing off steam about it. Call it the Official B*t*Hing Thread if you want to.
But some of us are sick of seeing good people leaving FR because of a bunch of bigots.
What harsh truths?
You want harsh truths, here they are: In any town, any where, there is an element of the society which will be criminal in its behaviour.
It does not matter if the town is composed entirely of people with green skin.
There will also be the homeless, the dirt dog poor, and the relatively prosperous, and every group in between.
You do not have to be uneducated, lazy, or stupid to be homeless, I have been there. One layoff at the wrong time and you are on the mercy of friends and the system. Thank God for my friends. If they need anything, anytime, they've got it, and they know it.
Others opt for the system, (or have no other options) some work their way out of that rattrap. Others yet will find the system so comfortable that they will not be pried out. That has nothing to do with color, but the individual.
Here are the HARSHEST TRUTHS of all:
That the media concentrated on the worst of the worst in NOLA in order to stir up racial issues, painting people there with a broad brush.
That the media coverage (for days) ended with the last dry foot of pavement heading east. The rest of the gulf coast was only seen on a rare flyby.
That there are poor southern welfare whites as well, (even though you would never know it by the press coverage)?
That those who would foment racial unrest are pushing the Anti-Bush agenda, and have been from day one, and anything they could do to diminish any relief effort and then blame Bush was considered fair game? SO they did what they could to make this a divisive issue along any lines they could, and income and race were the easiest.
All you needed to be stuck there in NOLA was to be the last person you know to leave and have a bad chip in your car or a dead battery.
That people who are normally skeptical of MSM coverage of anything allowed the same anti-Bush Mass Media to color their take on things?
After years of conditioning by the liberal media, an awful lot of freepers swallowed this crap hook, line, and sinker.
A pinch of math and I'll park my fingers. If 90% of the people in NOLA got out ahead of the storm, and the remaining people were ALL Black, then those remaining were 10% of the total population and only 15% of the black population. (At a MINIMUM 85 out of 100 blacks got out on their own.) I serously doubt that everyone left behind or who stayed was black, but the media sure did not hesitate to paint it that way. The proportion was likely a lot closer to the cultural makeup of the town--recall that there were those who did not/do not want to leave who are being kicked out still.
Well said!
No you haven't. I only RESPOND to those of you who interject your pontifications into other threads and are so judgmental of other posters.
And you most assuredly have NOT been on FR longer than I have.
RM began this replies to this thread by a veiled dissing of MHKing. Though I haven't been on his B/C or Just Damn ping lists, I did like the man's posts and I regret his departure. That said, maybe I am guilty of replying unnecessarily instead of keeping silent as I should have. No offense intended.
Good night y'all.
I'm off to sleep too. rm had issues you and I couldn't help. good night.
I'm glad to hear from you, indirectly. Best wishes for your heart and your mind in the next great project you undertake. You will be missed here. Many, including me, respect your judgments and your contributions.
Be well. Do well. Achieve well. And on occasion, tell us how you're doing.
Cordially,
Congressman Billybob
Great Balls of Fire! This is exactly why people leave... silly, ridiculous squabbles that go on interminably. What is the point? This was a thread about Michael and Rod and you hijacked it with garbage!
Oh, I get it; you've got a personal problem with ME and you're here to vent it.
Well, so far you've made statements you cannot or will not back up, but if it makes you fell better about yourself, go for yourself.
And just so you'll know, this was my original screename:

As you will see, it's July 20, 1998.
Wrong again.
Jim Robinson banned him. There have been no Abuse Reports filed on this thread.
I noted some posts like this not too long ago, maybe a month or so.
I know you recall the thread you and I were on that was about Stormfront wanting to get settled in here.
Bye now.
thank you for saying that
Yep.
Obviously, you have no concept of a thread. Why don't you start a "Howlin made a remark about Christians butting in so I had to do it too to prove her point." thread and go fuss about it in there instead of trashing up this thread?
Howlin,
This is my last post to you on this thread.
I could really care less about the length of time on FR. Both of us have been around a long time. My point is that Christians were getting blamed for driving mhking and rdb3 off. That is ridiculous and yet many on FR like to blame the "fundies". If you have a problem with my statement then support it biblically. Please stop with the personal attacks that you posted earlier. They do nothing to elevate your position.
