"Goodbye, farewell and amen"
Life's changes are always such that you never expect them, and they take a minute or three to get used to when they occur.
My life is taking a turn now that is forcing me to give up writing Ramblings' Journal.
I've accepted a new position that will preclude me from continuing my writings here. So I'm pulling the plug on R/J in order to focus on the new opportunity that has been placed before me.
Contrary to the opinions of others, I'm not running for office (I don't have the patience), nor am I joining a monastary. But I am turning the page on this chapter of my life, and moving forward. I'm very thankful for the friendships I've developed as a result of the blog, and I'm still going to be around -- you never know when an e-mail from me or a note in your comments section will show up to jab you or give you a thumbs up.
I want to say a special thank you to my Conservative Brotherhood bretheren, and encourage you to take a look at their blogs -- they are each fantastic writers in their own right. Their views are varied and they are each outspoken in their own ways. Their work is beginning to show up elsewhere, which makes me both happy and proud to know them.
The other blogs I've participated in -- Blogcritics and The Dead Pool -- are both worth your time and your thoughts. (Laurence, I'm still in the pool, even though I don't have a bunch of points. And Eric, I'm sorry that I hadn't had the opportunity to do more critiques in the past.)
A huge thank you to the Mu.nu community -- they've been incredibly supportive and fantastic. Pixy, you're the best.
I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize to you in advance.
I've asked Pixy to pull the plug next weekend.
Life's changes happen all the time, and for reasons known and unknown. All I can do is to step out on the path that God has lain for me, and know that He is at my side during my journey. I'm also happy to have my wife and my kids with me - they help keep me grounded. After twenty years (it'll be twenty years in a week and a half) of wedded bliss, I'm certainly happy.
Thanks again to everyone. God bless you all, and I'm sure we'll see each other 'round the 'net.
'Bye.
Who do you advocate banning? What would your suggest the FR rules be changed to. I believe the people who make do rascist coments are already banned. Are you advocating a level of political correctness equal to a college campus?
Recent events have brought to light some harsh truths. If some people can't stomcach it, then that is their problem.
Oh yes.
Very sad if true, the BC list needs to be carried on.
I didn't correspond much with MHKing but I always enjoyed reading his posts and his Just Damn threads. A real pity indeed. FR has lost one of its more valuable contributors. The Stormfronters and other fanatics of their racist ilk have finally had their way. All I can say is JUST DAMN.
Well, then, I'm assuming that you, like most of us, must avoid the immigration threads, because it's rampant on those.
Seems that we've been plagued by a swarm of vermin, revealed by Katrina flipping over the virtual rock.
I don't know what stormfronters are but I don't think that mhking and rdb3 were the kind of people who get "chased off" of anywhere. That's my opinion from reading their posts for years. Anyways, I think they may just be cooling off (I hope) and will be back.
Whatever it is, I guarantee we'll be hearing/seeing it. That man is a gifted writer and destined for greatness.
If they don't come back, Free Republic has suffered a great loss.
Thanks for dropping by to prove our point.
Sadly, Katrina is finishing the job started by the Schiavo case.
I barely recognize the place any more.
I wonder if anybody would miss me if I left?
I don't participate on immigration threads anymore because I find the discussion unproductive at a certain point. I have my views about immigration most are decidedly anti-illegal immigration. However, I see the political climate for what it is and that is that there's not much I can do about it. I avoid most all threads about Africa now, even if it's about South Africa my favorite place to talk about. These days I'm avoiding most all threads having to do with Hurricane Katrina, etc. and any thread Mike might have posted in the b/c ping list. I'm so over talking about race on FR. I rather discuss more productive things like Beyonce's cellulite.
Thank you, you have prooven mine.
So I must be a rascist according to you based upon my post?
What university/dept are you a faculty member of?
Welcome to the new face of FR.
Sure. Sooner or later somebody would ask.
Most of us wouldn't be missed like those two guys though; they were both thoughtful and able to express what a lot of us think much better than we can.
Can't you folks resist throwing around the PC thing? Get a life.
I will agree with that, but unfortunately FR is blighted by your presence.
