Goodbye, farewell and amen (mhking's blog)
Rambling's Journal ^ | Sept 14, 2005 | Michael King

"Goodbye, farewell and amen"

Life's changes are always such that you never expect them, and they take a minute or three to get used to when they occur.

My life is taking a turn now that is forcing me to give up writing Ramblings' Journal.

I've accepted a new position that will preclude me from continuing my writings here. So I'm pulling the plug on R/J in order to focus on the new opportunity that has been placed before me.

Contrary to the opinions of others, I'm not running for office (I don't have the patience), nor am I joining a monastary. But I am turning the page on this chapter of my life, and moving forward. I'm very thankful for the friendships I've developed as a result of the blog, and I'm still going to be around -- you never know when an e-mail from me or a note in your comments section will show up to jab you or give you a thumbs up.

I want to say a special thank you to my Conservative Brotherhood bretheren, and encourage you to take a look at their blogs -- they are each fantastic writers in their own right. Their views are varied and they are each outspoken in their own ways. Their work is beginning to show up elsewhere, which makes me both happy and proud to know them.

The other blogs I've participated in -- Blogcritics and The Dead Pool -- are both worth your time and your thoughts. (Laurence, I'm still in the pool, even though I don't have a bunch of points. And Eric, I'm sorry that I hadn't had the opportunity to do more critiques in the past.)

A huge thank you to the Mu.nu community -- they've been incredibly supportive and fantastic. Pixy, you're the best.

I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize to you in advance.

I've asked Pixy to pull the plug next weekend.

Life's changes happen all the time, and for reasons known and unknown. All I can do is to step out on the path that God has lain for me, and know that He is at my side during my journey. I'm also happy to have my wife and my kids with me - they help keep me grounded. After twenty years (it'll be twenty years in a week and a half) of wedded bliss, I'm certainly happy.

Thanks again to everyone. God bless you all, and I'm sure we'll see each other 'round the 'net.

'Bye.

That's the way I like to think of us all.

Sometimes I wonder...

Posting on FR has been a landmark thing for me. As time goes by, though, I wonder sometimes whether FR is changing or whether it's just me.

It seems constantly to be more and more full of trolls and idiots like rmmcdaniell who are more interested in picking a bar fight than in discussing anything. More and more, I find myself simply not posting a worthwhile response to something I read from any random poster because it seems more probable that they'll just respond with mindless insults. It seems like it's almost impossible anymore to find any disagreement between two posters on anything without a mountain of flaming anymore.

I know that I've grown less tolerant of it and less willing to waste time firing back, but it's hard to tell if FR hasn't gotten worse too.

Now...now....there you go making the kind of accusations you faulted me for. I did not complain about RM. I have been having an argument on this thread and I sure don't need the Admin's help to prove my point. Did I irk you with my comment about your selective questioning?

I wondered about you today; how is it going down there? Watch out for flooding!

Not at all. Screaming, "racist" to silence one's opponents is a long established tactic of the PC Left. That was presumably rmmcdaniell's point, and it seemd a valid one (at the time).

Regardless, we'll never know, will we.

It's not just you.

That's why us "oldsters" end up on threads like this late at night, moaning and groaning about the "good old days" at FR.

Rathergate brought us a lot of attention and the cat drug in some scuzzballs with it.

I hope a federal grand jury will investigate that Gretna bridge closing.

Relax, you got what you wanted. The guy who disagreed with you was banned.

How long have you been here? Nobody "else" gets somebody banned.

The guy did a pretty good job of doing that to himself.

It was a Freepercide.

Must have been Howlin that got him banned. I heard that Howlin has a ban button.

;-)

You think there is a better way to deal with these people, we either ban them, or they drive others away

I'm all for banning racists.

I guess my problem is that I require positive proof of racism before I am comfortable accusing someone of bigotry.

...some kind "Christian" woman on here informed me that my sister had "lived long enough and she didn't need to have a dead fetus' stem cells to prolong her life.

I'm sure that Christian woman would have been elated to pray for your sister and her health, but to use dead children to "extend" life is the ultimate barbarism.

Biblical Christians must (and will) stand according to Scripture even if it is not "popular" with some.

Yes! And I heard the woman at Capt. Bill's in Morehead say her entire outside deck was underwater! She said she's been there 22 years and had never seen water like she was seeing -- and this was in the afternoon! She said Arendell Street was flooded!

They are going to get it bad, I think, William. Really bad.

We only have only one race in America, Americans!

That's the way I like to think of us all.

The following quote has dogged me while reading numerous threads today.

- Pres Theodore Roosevelt:
"There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities."

Well, well, look what we have here: yet another Holier Than Thou who is TOO STUPID to read the rest of my statement.

They were her OWN STEM CELLS, you dolt.

And I'd rather die and go to hell than have "Christains" like you praying for me.
