GREAT WORK!
I agree the 200+ number they reported was way (WAY) too low; but this is the MSM we are talking about.

I think the real reporting was done by the folks at Junkyard Blog, who dug up this famous tract:
Here's the southeast Louisiana evac plan supplement, most recently revised in 2000. Go to page 13, read paragraph 5. It states:
5. The primary means of hurricane evacuation will be personal vehicles. School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance in evacuating.
AP was first out with the "angled" (not directly overhead) view of the 260 yellow and white topped buses, as part of a story.
Freeper Gideon 7 put it all together with the "1.2 miles" montage of the Superdome-Transit Buses photo.
I tried to do my part by posting my own assembly of pictures and text all over the internet!

Gosh! I hadn't thought of that. The kid seemed smarter than that tho.

Today's NBC segment about the submerged buses was long overdue. The 200+ buses (figure) mentioned in the segment is very misleading, considering a freeper posted a reply to a thread here at FR containing a chart of all of the school buses in the greater N. O. area. The total number of buses was over 8,000 !!!8,000.....man can you get a link to that thread?!!!
To: PhilipFreneau
There are 260+ buses at the school bus depot, and 150+ at the transit bus depot. That does not cound any buses unseen inside the gigantic bus garages.

The only thing Nagin knows how to evacuate is his bladderActually Nagin is a biological wonder. He defecates through his mouth.

"Hell's still pretty hot. NBC got close to reporting the truth, but, just couldn't pull the trigger. Lisa Myers also wanted to know why palettes of food and water couldn't have been dropped down on the crowds at the CC on Thursday. And then she had some disaster expert with a thick German accent saying that failure- was reprehensible. And had that maneuver been done, the same expert would have said dropping palettes of food and water down on a mob and crushing people- was reprehensible. Myers also wondered why the 82nd's rapid deployment force ( which was activated and ready) was not deployed earlier. No mention of the protocol for federalizing troops and Blanco's responsibility. Her report left the impression that President Bush refused to deploy them." Thanks. I was so elated by the report on the school buses I did not hear the rest of the report. Besides, I knew that for one report shifting the blame away from Bush, there would be ten blaming him. That's the MSM way. A Leopard doesn't change its spots, without a good skinning.

I think the 8,000 buses counts all of Lousiana. I saw a breakdown by school districts/parishes on a thread.

In one of the photos - which appeared several days ago - the water in not even up to the bumpers so I expect they're fully operational and not flooded.

The school buses are controlled by the parish school board, not by the mayor.Mayor Nagin specifically mentioned that commandeering buses was part of the plan during his Sunday morning announcement.
Then he commandeered nothing, and gave looters permission to steal.

Lisa Meyers has to be a series reporter, because she ain't making it on her looks... Lisa Meyers was born in 1951, and has been at NBC for a long time. She was probably originally hired for her looks, like all the other infobabes, but has managed to keep her job as the years and pounds accumulate. Most likely she has a lawyer threatening a big fat age discrimination lawsuit if she is fired.

Maybe the MSM is reading our threads?

I first mentioned it in
this thread in
this post at 9:57:56 AM CDT on 09/01/2005. After posting it there, I tipped it off to Drudge using his on-line form and it showed up several hours later on his site. I don't know if I had anything to do with it, but FWIW that's my timeline.
