Actor Brosnan says Bush 'has a lot to answer for' Sep 06 3:50 AM US/Eastern

By Shiraz Sidhva

DEAUVILLE, France (Hollywood Reporter) - Pierce Brosnan was the only big star on hand as the Deauville Festival of American Cinema got off to a quiet start over the weekend, and he took advantage of the spotlight to blast the Bush administration's handling of the carnage caused by Hurricane Katrina.

"This man called President Bush has a lot to answer for," the former James Bond actor told reporters Saturday. "I don't know if this man is really taking care of America. This government has been shameful."

Brosnan was in the northern coastal resort promoting the black comedy "The Matador," which opened the festival Friday. The event was overshadowed by the weightier Venice International Film Festival, which runs almost parallel to it.

This pathetic has-been called Pierce Brosnan has a lot of shutting up to do. Shutting up and acting is optional - he's just another Hollywood leftist to ignore.

The British must have found out what a jerk he was and that could be some of why he isn't doing Bond again.

Well, alrighty then... this man they call a "big star," speaking from the admittedly second-rate film festival ongoing currently in France, should show us all how it's done.

How's about rounding up all your big star buddies and tootling on down to New Orleans to help out, Mr. Brosnan? Maybe a candlelight fundraiser in the Super Dome? Or pulling together a fleet of batteaux, so you, Babs and all the other leading lights can administer humanitarian aid, oh, and maybe rescue a few people?

Put up or shut up.

The only actor left for me to watch is Clint Eastwood. Thinning them out as fast as they open up their silly piehole.

"This man called Pierce Brosnan has a lot to answer for because he is by far the worst James Bond ever. /s"

You mean ONLY because he starred in the lowest grossing--lowest grouser [?]--Bond films ever?

I wish Sean Connery would kick his metrosexual ass.

I adored him when he played a counterspy (for us) some 25 years ago on pbs. It was a 15-20 chapter weekly show, and I taped it with one of the first VCRs on the market.

Much later I learned about his politics...talk about being chagrined!
Still have the tapes.

Yep, and they realized he's 9000 years old with a bad hair dye job and too feeble to do the job...not to mention an idiot.

Such a shame. A body like that, and not a brain in his head.

Why do these half wit Art college drop outs keep thinking anyone gives a damn about their political opinions. Besides, Sean Connery was the only real Bond. The one Bond movie I saw Bronsnan in was so over the top that it was just painful to watch...

Will agree with you there -- although I've said many times I was not attracted to him when he was younger. He looks a lot better now that he's older.

Damn! One more actor to boycott. Before long the only thing I'll be able to watch is HGTV.
