Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well my friend's gonna be a nervous wreck - he worries a lot. At least his parents are visiting the Rockies this week so he only has to worry about his brother and friends...

I'm very glad I don't live somewhere that gets hurricanes.Same here. And those things hit every year! Is it really worth it just to get some sunny weather in January?

Yeah, but they aren't. Houses can be rebuilt, stuff replaced. It's people that matters.
I think I remember this king dude in some weird fantasy movie saying something similar... but he was right.

That was my thought. I'd be really worried about my property and upset that I wasn't there, even knowing I was better off elsewhere.

I understand that Jen.... but I don't blow it off as unimportant. I'd be worried sick about everything I worked for being left behind in the path of a hurricane.
That's all I'm sayin'.

I don't know, Hair...I doubt it. She is absolutely convinced they did nothing wrong.
She told me "I believe the Lord's hand is in all of this!"
"Oh, I absolutely agree!" I replied. But I think the way she thinks the way the Lord's hand is moving and the way *I* think the way the Lord's hand is moving is two different ways!
Anytime I would ask her something she couldn't or didn't want to answer, she'd just say "Well, we're going to have to agree to disagree." Lame.
I told her that when I signed up for big CHEF, it was because I understood their standards for being a member and agreed with them. She said "But being under the new umbrella group is just the same, only free!" I said "NOT free, Celeste! It's NOT free! Someone pays for those freebies you're getting. Where does the new umbrella organization get it's money?" She said "From it's homeschool conference." (I knew this.) I said "And the people that are the vendors at their conference are who is paying for your freebies, right?" She agreed and I hit the point home "Celeste, [a cult, name redacted] is one of the vendors at that conference...your freebies are being paid for by a cult!"
Well, we had to agree to disagree.

In a nutshell, we're supposed to be a witness to those in cults, not putting ourselves in the same camp and certainly not accepting money from them! And she's aligned herself with an organization that accepts money from a cult.

Same here. And those things hit every year! Is it really worth it just to get some sunny weather in January? Er...yep...
Seriesly tho, they don't hit EVERYwhere EVERYyear.
I wouldn't move to Louisiana, for many reasons. But I'd move to the Gulf coast of Alabama or Florida in a heartbeat. And we're very seriesly planning to retire on the Outer Banks of NC.
Devasting hits like Andrew, and like this one may turn out to be are rare.
Besides, if'n y'all think you don't want the Californians movin' up into Washington...just wait 'til us rednecks get there!

Flying is different because airplanes have floors under them, and the windows are too small to get the sensation of falling out of them.I read an account by a AH-64 pilot who said flying at night with NVGs was less nerve-rattling because the squirrels were asleep by then, so you didn't see them running around in the trees, eye-level with you, like you did during the day.
