The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hmmm....looks like they've shifted the forecast track east.

That is NOT good!

Heh.

With every word out of that nurse's mouth...she proved she was a complete idiot. For one thing, she shouldn't grill someone like that unless she had her facts straight beforehand...I only got one sample and the sample I got was only supposed to last a few days. She was clueless from the very beginning.

Secondly, I don't think she should have dealt with me (or anyone) the way she did, but she especially made an ass of herself because she wasn't just dealing with some poor elderly lady that cowers to her perceived status...I'm a Registered Nurse and I believe that affords me at least some professional courtesy.

I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do...I may give the doctor a call next week and tell him about his unprofessional nurse.

See if you can get some "Zicam Nasal Gel" on the way home. It won't 'heal' the cold, but it will certainly lessen the severity of the symptoms. I'd used their nasal spray before, and liked how it worked, except I don't like nasal sprays. Now it's in a gel form that won't run right back down and out of your nose!

Been listening to a Houston radio station through the firewall...hehehe. Gridlock and people running out of gas.

Meanwhile on the hurricane thread...some people think it would be better if it got NOLA again. That way we won't have to rebuild two cities.

Ha!

Well...I'm back from that clerical test thingie. I think I did OK, but only OK. The spelling part was easy, and the pattern test wasn't too bad, though I didn't quite finish (it was a three minute speed portion), but some of the other stuff...ech. A lot of it was stuff like "It's best to treat an angry customer with _____." And then the answers were stuff like a) sympathy, b) authority, c) concern, and I can't remember what else. And then there were questions dealing with being an emergency call person...what to ask a person first, and another that had four emergency situations (like a fight, a bank robbery, a guy having a heart attack) and asked which you should handle first.

I did the best I could. Should hear back in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I'm already employed by then anyway, but...

Gah....

Get your kinko's stuff done. I'm out of here as soon as possible (maybe within the hour) and I'd like to do Lost, then collapse for a while.

Ungh. I really don't wanna do Kinkos during lunch hour...it'll be crowded. But I'm not sure it'll be better later.

I may actually go after Lost - at four or so, maybe?

It's only two forms.

Oh, yeah, Kinkos is open forever... it'll be at least another forty five minutes before I can leave but whatever.

I used to live in Tyler...Matthew was born there. Steve worked for the rose industry.

Hey...the VW show is this weekend...remember the one I went to last year and came home so solidly hooked?

I'm excited! It's not supposed to rain till Sunday...
