Used to love black pudding. Could eat a whole link of it when I was little. I'd never eat it now knowing what's in it! Also 'wild meat' which I learned was possum. EEEEEWWWWW.

Depression era South no less. Setting and running trot lines, fish traps (made from hog and chicken wire) and wooden rabbit box traps was the order of the day for me when a kid. My mother referred to rabbits. as Hoover hogs.

I have a weakness for lumps of brown sugar, especially in the middle of the night. We don't keep brown sugar anymore. If I need some for a recipe, I buy a box but throw away any that is left.

Depends on the kind of health food store. You'll also meet some of the nastiest people in some stores too, esp. in New York City. There are unhealthy vegetarians and vegans eating crap.

Roasted garlic (as in a whole head of garlic) served with toast rounds, capers, and goat cheese. You just pop out the garlic and spread it on the toast. They call it Park Slope, but I've also had this at the Bully Hill Winery restaurant in Hammondsport, NY. The garlic is slightly sweet after being roasted. Delectable.

When I was a kid my Dad would put hot dogs (uncooked) into a big jar and fill it up with vinegar and set it out on the kitchen countertop. 10-14 days later he would take out a couple of the aforementioned hot dogs and eat them with crackers and a cold bottle of beer. I tried them and still make them to this day, only I add some sliced onion and jalapenos. I have yet to find anyone else who likes them, but then that's a good thing, more for me.

My dad did the same thing with pickerel. He'd pickle it. Pickled Pickerel. And then he'd make me watch Das Boot. Dubbed and subtitled versions.

You're right! My experiences were in NYC. I just used the word 'mall' for brevity. And they are very nasty.
