Survivor - Guatemala: The Official Thread

Hidden deep in the rainforests of Central America, stand the ruins of an ancient civilization that once prospered, and then vanished. These were the Maya people, and this is the country of Guatemala.

These stunning cities of the past stand as clues to a mystery thousands of years old. While Europe was in the dark ages, it was the Maya who harnessed the knowledge of the stars, and the celestial movements, to create a mystical union of man, nature and the gods. It was a world of great kings, elaborate ceremonies, fierce battles, and even human sacrifice.

18 Survivors will be marooned within this mysterious and rugged terrain.

For the first time, the castaways will actually live within the ruins of a vanished civilization, and they will be forced to embrace the ancient Maya lifestyle.

Join us as the adventure continues with:

A girl I know ran into Judd last week in the pizza parlor in my hometown.

She tried drilling him for information, but he wasn't giving anything up. He just laughed at all her questions and would only say that it was the hardest thing he'd ever done in his life.

She said that he looks like he lost 50-60 lbs lighter since he went on the show. From his appearance, everyone is convinced that he spent many weeks on the bug and mashed corn diet.

I met James "Chad" Crittenden - the amputee who was on Survivor last year - a few weeks ago. He was the speaker at my tri club's monthly meeting. He's a pretty interesting guy - he completed a triathlon only 9 months after losing his lower leg to Synovial Sarcoma.

Anyways, he said that the lack of food was no joke. After he got voted off, CBS carted him off to a different island that, while still sparse, had oodles and oodles of junk food. A fact for which he was quite happy....

Good Morning FReepers and FReeperettes! It’s Thursday so that means it’s time once again for your:

SURVIVOR PING ! ! !

The Yaxha Tribe: (blue buffs)
Amy, Brian, Gary, Jamie, Lydia, Rafe, and Stephenie

The Nakum Tribe: (yellow buffs)
Blake, Brandon, Brooke, Cindy, Danni, Judd, Margaret, and Bobby Jon

The Losers:
Jim, Morgan, Brianna

Let’s get right into it shall we.

Tonight’s episode is titled "To Betray or Not to Betray"
I think when you see the rest of the clues, this title will become apparent.

So let’s see what other clues are provided. The SeeBS website tell us:
In an unexpected twist, members of the two tribes are shuffled. And from the promos for episode 3, the tribes are called together in what is called a “Tribal Forum” to discuss tribal life. In vidcaps we see Bobby Jon sitting directly behind Stephenie sporting his yellow buff. Later, in a separate vidcap, Stephenie is also sporting a yellow buff. That tells us that Stephenie has switched from Yaxha to Nakum. Also, from other various vidcaps we can surmise guesstimate that Blake, Danni, Judd and Margaret switch to Yaxha and Jamie, Rafe and Stephenie switch to Nakum. If we are correct in our guesstimates, the new tribe breakdowns are as follows:

The New Yaxha tribe: Amy, Blake, Brian, Danni, Gary, Judd, Margaret, Lydia

The New Nakum tribe: Bobby Jon, Brandon, Brooke, Cindy, Jamie, Rafe, Stephenie

While one Survivor dangles his feet in the crocodile-infested waters, something nibbles on his toes. Why do they insist on throwing this stuff in here, when they know it makes no difference as to the winners of challenges or boots? In other words, nothing here, let’s move along.

A very close Immunity Challenge leads into a tense Tribal Council that could end with a tie or a major betrayal. The vidcaps show this challenge is yet another “row the boat out, collect stuff, bring it back to shore and do something with the stuff you’ve collected” type challenge. The promos also show the New Nakum with a slight lead in many of the vidcaps, so I’m going to say Yaxha yet again looses this Immunity Challenge.

Now, at tribal council, we have 4 “old Yaxha” (Amy, Brian, Gary and Lydia) and 4 “old Nakum” (Blake, Danni, Judd and Margaret). We are also lead to believe from this clue that this Tribal Council could end with a tie (4 against 4) or a major betrayal. Now who would betray whom?

It’s a pretty safe bet that Amy, Brian, Gary and Lydia are going to stick together, no matter what, so the betrayal would have to come from the other four. And, we know that Judd and Blake don’t see eye to eye (Judd thinks Blake is playing to Margaret’s sympathy) and both Blake and Judd chided Margaret for her camp rebuild input last week. So it would be safe to assume that the betrayal could come from any of these three.

But we all know what happens when you assume! So, I’m gonna say that the betrayal comes from Danni. Wait, wait! Hear me out!

The promos also show a faceless female voice (which sounds a lot like Danni’s voice) interrogating Gary about being an ex-football quarterback. He replies with his typical “NO! I swear!” routine. What if Gary tries to talk Danni into joining his alliance (himself, Amy, Brian and Lydia) and voting for an ex-Nakum. Danni now has to make a choice. Vote with Gary’s alliance against Blake (ex-Nakum’s strength) and not have to worry about a tie, or vote with the rest of the ex-Nakums against Gary (Yaxha’s strength) and force the tie (in which case anything could happen, maybe even herself drawing the dreaded purple rock!) In other words “To betray or not to betray?” I think that Danni is going to cut her losses (real or perceived) and betray Blake. Thus, Blake is booted in a 5 to 3 vote.

Well, there you have it:

”Cuz’s weekly Survivor Picks!”

Reward Challenge Winner: No reward challenge this week.
Immunity Challenge Winner: New Nakum
Tribal Council Bootee: Blake

Also, the lovely and gracious Mrs. Cuz and I are going to be taking a long overdue extended weekend vacation, so I won’t be able to post a recap next week. But don’t worry, I will be back next Thursday for my weekly picks, so until then,

Take care,

P.S. The spoiler websites are again in shock over last week’s pick. They had all picked Amy (Again?!?!?) to get the boot. Anyway, they are again very slow with their picks so, I’m gonna start things off again with my post. Not that they pay any attention to me! :~D

FReepmail me if you want added to, or removed from the one, the only, Official Survivor Ping List.

I definitely believe they're going to mix things up, but don't you think that they would keep Steph and Bobby Jon on separate teams?

Maybe Steph suggesged it behind closed doors. She's the strongest player and tired of being on loosing teams.

I doubt the producers would change the teams just because one of the members was tired of losing and asked for a shakeup. They might see a losing team and decide to shake things up, but I cant see them doing it to favor a specific player.

They might see a losing team and decide to ...

I would think that the challenges, team makeup, twists, and shakeups were all planned ahead of time. They like to keep the players guessing, and I wouldn't be surprised to see an early merge, or maybe a late one. But, it would have been planned out ahead of time.

Yeah, they probably do make adjustments to certain things along the way, but minor things. They major things have all been determined before the game starts. IMO.

Hey you two. I have a HUGH favor if it is not too much to ask. I am going to a dinner tonight for church and will not be able to watch tonight's Survivor. Also, my VCR is an antique :) and I cannot set to tape for later. Would you two mind sorta giving a play by play of what is happening in your posts so I can have an idea what is happening. I wouldn't ask but cuz will not be doing one this next week and it is going to drive me crazy. It doesn't have to be detailed or anything. Just add some detail as you post to each other. ??? Thanks, "Sorry for the inconvenience, you don't have to if you don't want."

I think the biggest thing we find out tonight is that Blake is Stephene's long lost twin brother who leads the plot to get het kicked off the island.
