Emeril is hard to take. He talks like everyone in the world is 11 years old and says the same thing over and over till you want to throw something at the TV. I used to watch till the commercials took over the programming.

What?  You mean like "Bam" or "Smell-o-vision", or "I don't know where you get your beef/pork/fish, but where I get mine, it's not seasoned."  Oh, that stuff just NEVER gets old.  When he puts garlic in something, and the audience goes wild, that's a real show stopper.

Maybe that's why my kids like watching Emeril so much. :-) The one thing that does annoy me is that sqeaky humming he does.

We used to think that, too, still do, but then some people are just that slow, and that's who he needs to teach. We love Alton and Giada. I've tried some of her recipes and Rachael Ray's too. Yum. And we can't forget about Julia Child. I really learned a lot from (before I had cable) from Julia Child and PBS. Nowadays PBS is all lefty and maybe it was then, too, but I got the basics from Julia. And her recent cookbooks are good, too. She 'demystified' French cooking and made cooking in general more accesible, after the years of instant and fast food supposedly 'liberating' us in the 50's, 60's & 70's.

Julia and her husband Paul circa 1988. What a lady!
