yeah that reminds me of a comedy-folk band called the Foremen who did a song called "Ollie Ollie Off-Scot-Free" that made fun of Ollie North but as I understand it he actually embraced the song and played it on his radio show! They also do
"I'm Russian Limbaugh (I Will Bury You)"
My favorite scene in Animal House is when Bluto smashes the folksinger's guitar then shrugs apologeticly as if to say "Sorry, I don't know what gets into me, I can't help it."
Folksinger's Lyrics: I gave my love a cherry that had no stone / I gave my love a chicken that had no bone . . . . (smash).

Reminds me of the SCTV crowd doing the side splitting folk music satire "A Mighty Wind". One of the songs was called "Never did too much ramblin' after all". What a scream.
