Tonight on Sci - Fi:

7/6 - Firefly: Showing the new trailer for the movie Serentiy.

8/7 - Stargate SG1: Finally get to see the new bad guys. The Ori... So far SG1 seems renewed with the addition of Ben Browder.. So far it is good..

9/8 - Stargate Atlantis: The new character Ronnon Dex is introduced. Last weeks episode was ok.. It was funny seeing the Asgard swear, but I hope they don't make the Asgard to funny.

10/9 - Battlestar Galatica: Colonel Tigh declares martial law.. We are going to see why is not capable of running a battlestar.

I love BSG, but it would be nice to, you know, weave some of the plot threads back together. A lot happened in the first two eps this season, but the plot didn't advance much. Hopefully tonight we'll see some major advancement.

Well, there wasn't any major advancement, but boy did I enjoy the new episode all the same. What I'm really liking is how they don't let some of the obvious loose ends go, like last week when the cylons were shooting at the crew trapped on Kobol, but they didn't chase them? Why? It irked the heck out of me. Well, this week, now we know why, and it's more than a satisfactory explanation. The metal cylons are more like walking terminators, and I'm liking that.

Baltar has to be my favorite character, and one of the more complex villians we've seen in a sci-fi series. The best part? How the man who is solely at fault for humanity's predicament because of his selfish ego is being brainwashed for further problems for the human race, and the people in the fleet totally percieve him as someone and something he's not. Now that's evil.

The best loose end I've seen was when the Cylons were hacking the firewall. Just as Gaeta was unplugging, there was a split second of showing red, as if the firewall had been compromised. People with keen eyes noticed it, but it was addressed right away in the next episode.

I love the way they are setting up Baltar, also. I never watched the original, but he sounded like he was just a evil maniac, with no backstory.

Well here are my thoughts:

SG1:I like the new enemy the Ori. They make the Goauld look like a bunch of wimps.. I liked it how the Prior blew himself up (kinda familiar hmm??).... The ending was neat with O'Niel and Mitchell flying the F-302. I think that Sg1 is going to well..

Atlantis: Better than last weeks episode. The new character looks promising.

Battlestar Galactica: Very good. It shows more and more that Tigh is an incompetent moron.. Martial Law is declared thoughout the fleet. The fight scene on Kobol was good and it shows more and more that Baltar is two faced.

I just watched Friday's BSG tonight. All I could say at the end was OH S**T! Roslin pretty much handed Tigh his hat with her speech from the jail cell. As far as comparisons to the war on terror and Islam. I think that is BS. Roslin is appointing herself a prophet, something Bin Laden really isn't doing. She is afterall taking a hallucinogenic drug.

On a sort of related note I'd like to post a link to a great amateur writing site I found:

http://kier.3dfrontier.com/forums/archive/index.php/f-18-p-1.html

It is a forum of amateur SciFi writers. They do cross-over (one Scifi universe to another) stories.

The reason I mention this site is there is a story on there simply titled "World War III". The writer uses elements of "Star Trek". The story is well done and reads like Tom Clancy. Interestingly enough the antagonists are Russia, Germany and France....Hmmmm.

I mention this because the writer has to be conservative. The site is open to all and in an interesting rant to a Brit criticizing his work I found the most eloquent defense of 20th century America I've ever read. Also despite a horrific nuclear exchange the conditions imposed on post-war Europe are...well you would have to read it. Anyway some random thoughts. Can't wait for next week's Battlestar Galactica. Things are coming to a head.
