Thursday, April 7, 2005

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

Tussel/Tussel

Verb/noun:
Pronunciation: tus/el
Etymology: I don’t know.

1) (verb) To struggle, especially roughly or violently: scuffle. Syn: wrestle
2) (Noun) A physical contest or struggle: scuffle
3) A rough argumentor struggle against difficult odds for success.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

Did you write that? Excellent left-wing reporting, Arghie! A++++ for you.

I don't know if you've read the whole thread, but today is going to be our 11th day of over 110 degree heat. Hurricane Emily just might give us some relief from this heat.

Wasn't it in France a couple of years ago in August when all the French went on vacation and the elder mothers and fathers stayed home without air conditioning died? No one checked on them. Nice bunch of folks there.

Awwwwww. We have one buried in the backyard. It was before I was here, though.

Good luck with the funeral.

Lucky you, I see me every day in the mirror, and believe me, after umpty zillion years it remains no treat.

I'm OK except for daily mirror trauma. Beats lookin' at Howard, though.

Is your Marine back at work?

I don't think it's heavy handed at all..........I believe that is basically how it would be reported considering today's so called "media"

Very well done, Argh.

No, no, I didn't write it, Howard sent it on an email. You'd better take back some of those plusses. :^)

Hard to believe somebody wants a hurricane, but I understand your predicament. Good luck, Miss Slip!

Thanks, but please see my response to Miss Slip in # 166. I guess in the future I'd better put a disclaimer for the ones I don't write myself. Which are most of them.

Good morning, Miss Slip:

Here is an Ode to the King of Bug Tussel
A pudgy, Mountebank Grifter so hip to the Con and Hustle
Who came out of nowhere with his slick White Trash airs
And made the Nineties a decade of "Affairs"

No one cared to mentioned that so many of his "friends"
Had lives that came to odd and violent ends
The scribes and soothsayers were too awash in rapturous orgasm
While Waco was the start of a deep and wide chasm

That would eventually split the great nation
With the proposed integration of Flamers and Queens
Into organizations that once wore khaki and OD Green
And Dot Com execs made piles of money most obscene
Is it any wonder the Military hated this Walking Disaster?

Who did nothing after Khobar Towers, Africa, the Cole and Mogadishu
"It's The Economy, Stupid", his Mantra and Ju-Ju
May have kept the Masses placated while Talk Radio supposedly spewed hate
While others, in lands of desert sand plotted our fate!

Jack Deth~ 07/19/05.

Tragedy on the Golf Course

Ben is teeing off from the back tees. On his downswing he realizes that his wife Mary is teeing up on the red tees directly in his target line.

Unable to stop his swing, he nails it solidly and hits her directly in the temple and kills her instantly.

A few days later Ben gets a call from the coroner regarding her autopsy.

Coroner: "Ben, your wife seemed to have died from blunt force trauma to the head. You said you hit a golf ball and hit her in the temple, is that correct?"

Ben: "Yes sir, that's correct"

Coroner: "Ben, I also found a golf ball wedged up her butt"

Ben: "Was it a Titleist 3?"

Coroner: "Yes, it was."

Ben: "Oh, that was my mulligan!"

Howdy, Jack!

I'm doing my best to stay off the foot.....I'm really annoyed with myself. I was feeling better yesterday than I had since it happened, and then I lost my balance and all the pain came racing back.
