Has it been officially determined whether or not Godric's Hollow is named after Godric Gryffindor?

it would have been logical for Harry to ask.

it would have been clear that Harry should ask Dumbledore about it.

I just put that "logical to ask thing" in the same category as "why do men refuse to ask someone else for driving directions" when they are obviously and hopelessly lost.

I think she's confirmed it...

And the interview she gave two HP site webmasters last week has some interesting stuff... basically, IMO, confirmed that "RAB" was Regulus Black...

I think that's why I really loved Truly, Madly, Deeply. The main characters were very scholarly, very artistic, and as such, you could expect a lot of unrealistic, pretentious dialogue, but there really wasn't. I don't remember even once thinking to myself "NOBODY talks like that!!!" As opposed to TEP and the dreadful Titanic. Pearl Harbor was another stinker. I can't believe how bad scriptwriting has become. Do writers have contact with other humans? Sometimes I wonder.

I'm ordering "Truly, Madly, Deeply" today from Amazon, (thanks for the tip, I'm looking forward to this!) along with another gem I just saw last weekend: "Dear Frankie". It could have been sentimental and sappy, but instead was absolutely delightful. And for us Gerard Butler fans, it was a huge treat. (If you look at the reviews, ignore the Entertainment Weekly one and the Village Voice one, as the reviewers apparently never saw the movie and gave their reviews based on the story synopsis. Look at Ebert and Roper, and the "real people" reviews, which show how outstanding it is. IMO.)

Make sure to have a fresh box of tissues. It's a real tear-jerker.

It was on one of the Cinemax or Starz! channels about 2 weeks back, so of course, I watched it again. I do own the DVD, but I haven't listened to much of the commentary yet. Just the first 15-20 minutes. It's hard to pay attention to the commentary while you're sobbing.

Despite the sobbing bit, it really is an outstanding movie, and not just a chick flick. Some have compared it to "Ghost," but there's really no comparison. "Ghost" stinks. TMD is incredible.

Good luck. They usually just come to me, more or less fully formed.

My ex says I free associate better than anyone she's ever met outside a [mental] institution...

How could Snape have killed or kidnapped Harry? Did he know Harry was there? He was under the invisibility cloak, after all. Do you mean during the chase, on the grounds? But most of that time, I think, Hagrid was there also and, of course, Harry was putting up a fight.

The part that puzzled me was Snape yelling at others not to kill Harry on the Dark Lord's orders. Hadn't Voldemort shown, at the end of Order of the Phoenix, that he no longer had any use for Harry after the loss of the prophecy, and that he was prepared to kill him? After all, Voldemort has to get Harry killed if he is to survive. There is an interesting essay on line at http://www.livejournal.com/users/garlandgraves/3409.html (sorry I don't know how to post a link) where the author discusses Snape's guilt or innocence.

I keep wondering about the sorting hat (another relic of Gryffindor, the sword isn't the only one); Lily Evans, whose past seems to be coming up now; and the reference to "Peverell" on Marvolo's ring. Has that name come up before?

During the across-the-grounds chase was the opportune time. Hagrid was there but not the whole time--he went to save his pooch from his burning cabin.

Hermione doesn't have a sister.... or rather, she has never mentioned one and you'd think she would, she mentions her parents sometimes. But she's Muggleborn anyway so her sister probably wouldn't be at Hogwarts.

Though there are the two Creevey brothers, who are supposedly both Muggleborn, so you never know.
