Speaking of plot twists -- did you notice that Lily Potter was outstanding at ... potions? How very interesting. Perhaps Snape's hatred for James is based less on their inherent enmity, than it is on the fact that James got the girl.... And perhaps the fact that Harry has Lily's eyes (how many times have we heard it) merely twists the knife a bit more.

IMHO, one of the Horcrux's is Harry's Scar!

Oooo...interesting. Something to ponder for sure.

Many people I have talked to think DD was pleading for his life, when Harry heard, "Please, Snape". I think it's the opposite. DD was pleading with Snape to take his life.

Oh wow! You really might be on to something. I just assumed that when Dumbledore told Harry to go get Snape that he was going to get some kind of revitilizing potion or at least get him down to his office, BUT we all know DD is NOT stupid and most likely knew what Snape and Malfoy were up to.

Oooh. He has such hatred for James, but Snape keeps protecting Harry. Perhaps because of his mother's eyes. So, when he told Voldemort about the prophecy and Lily was killed (I must add I think Lily and James are alive), he came to Dumbledore. Maybe that is why Dumbledore trusts him. Snape loved Lily, and love is the greatest power.....my head is spinning!

I don't think they are dead because of him not being able to see Thestrals until watching Cedric die.

I wondered about that myself, and that is a valid point. But where could they have been all this time?

As to Harry being a horcrux (his scar) I was reading on another board where they listed the 7;

Ring - destroyed
diary - destroyed
locket
cup
snake
something of Ravenclaw's
V himself

That makes 7 without Harry.

As to his parents not being dead, the protection Harry has had for the last 15 years he's had because him mother loved him enough to die for him. That protection wouldn't be in effect if she were alive.

Does anyone think that Harry's Aunt may be a squib and that's why she knows so much about the wizarding world?

Rowling said eagle-eyed readers of the current novel would find clues about the next one in the final pages. (SNIP)

Yes. It would certainly explain her raging jealousy toward Lily.

I think that no one wants to believe that DD was so horribly misguided trusting Snape, so Snape has to be a good guy.

In the past week or so I've re-read the first 5 and finished 6 this morning. Snape HAS been horrible to Harry, but in every instance I recall, something good has come from it.

In 6, Harry having the Saturday detentions allowed the Quiddich team to play without him -- and win. It seems to me that JKR is trying to make the rest of characters more real, and I predict that in 7, R, H, G and possibly even Neville will have confrontations with V apart from Harry.

Keep in mind Dumbledore's blackened and unhealing hand. I think what's going on was D was in pain and dying anyway because of his wound. Thus, he could ask Snape to hasten the his inevitable death, in order to advance the plan

something of Ravenclaw's

So what would be the something of Griffendor's? I have already lent my book, and I am dying to read the end again.

She did know about the dementors without being told.... another excellent catch.
