This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
My kids are running me ragged today.
There is a restriction about how close you can put any building to the property line but I don't remember what it is. I know for a fact that it's further than what those clowns built that arena. They misled the city zoning guy and he gave permission to build. It's a hugh, series mess and I'm enjoying watching the fun.
A solid wall could also be a solution. A tall rock wall would look nice.
"Any closer and your neighbor would need a crowbar to get out of his own barn."
LOL! Or perhaps a personal lubricant.
"always something with horses, right:)?"
You darn tootin'.
"Winnie sure is pretty."
Thanks! She's really filled out over the summer, I thought she was a little thin when I bought her.
Frog..early Happy Birthday to you.
Tuffy...let's just say, I am a baby boomer...lol
Thanks Duchess.
Heh. I like to watch trouble unfold sometimes as long as I'm not in it. Depends on who's involved. This sounds like it's going to be a trip.
I'm not taking any sides here, but i was thinking about this situation. Why did the guy with the smaller barns build his buildings so close to the property line? I realize he was first, but....
Becky
*laughing*
I'd probably take up a sudden interest in learning to ride side-saddle!
You got a good point there Becky. The new guy may have figured that since his neighbor had built his barn so close to HIS property line that he'd just return the favor, you know. What's fit for the goose is fit for the gander and all that.
I do think that guy with the big arena is a bit of an ass for doing what he did...obviously he doesn't care about being neighborly:)
Becky
He didn't build it, he bought it already built. They've only lived there a couple of years, they moved here from California.
The new guy just bought that property a few months ago.
And don't forget that they also had to wear about 25 pounds worth of clothing!
Yikes!
You suppose they are still out marking trail:)?
I got a call just now from the girl that is my daughters age that use to live up the road from us to ride tomorrow. She'll be here at 7 in the morning, and if she's not, I'm going without her. It's suppose to be 103 tomorrow.
Becky
He probably figured that with a barn that close to the property line that nobody in their right mind would buy the lot next to. How many acres do these people with the big barn have?
Wouldn't have happened to me, we would have bought the property as soon as it went up for sale, just to prevent this type of scenario. As a matter of fact, my husband just signed a contract on another 4 acres that connects to our property. Has a big old house on it, my brother is thinking about renting it from us. He's going through a divorce.
