This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
It's been cooling off here just a little bit, thank goodness. The heat has had everybody around here a little wore out. We've actually been down in the 80's during the day and 60's at night for the last couple of days. I know that still sounds hot to some people like Hair, but it sure feels good to us after the summer we've had. It's supposed to be a good bit cooler by the weekend too. I'd try to blow some of it over your way but that'd be hot air, so that wouldn't help much. ;o)

Not yet.
My Mom is scared to death of horses. I don't know where my sister and I got our horse crazies from. Neither one of us were allowed to have a horse until we were grown and could buy them ourselves, so maybe that's why we wanted them so bad.

I agree with you on the girl in the armor! Wow, what a costume. I did that once. My horse was a fire engine, and I was the fireman. We put a red blanket on under his saddle, and made a ladder out of sticks and tied it to both sides of the saddle, and a length of hose was tied to one of the D rings on my saddle. We pinned a dalmatian stuffed animal to the back of the blanket. We had a red halter/bridle, and through the crown piece we threaded a water bottle filled with tinfoil to make a "siren."

We hit 103 here in the Hill Country. And dry as a bone.
She said she has a tear in the back of her knee. She said it's her age that did it.
Back later tonight. I am going to Stardate site, there is a great big red star every evening in the west, I think it is Mars. Later.
Oh yeah. It's hotter than jalapenos here. Sunday I got so sick. I just got over some kind of bug and took my last pill on an empty stomach. We went and ate breakfast and went to the stables about 11:30. I got really hot in the barn and started cramping up. I could not cool down so I went to the wash rack and drenched myself with the hose. I was feeling a little better until I realized that I had my husbands cell phone in my pocket. It wiped me out so bad that I was looking at the grass my horse was eating and thinking how nice it would be to just go lay in it:')
Yall should come down this weekend. We are going to the island. Eddies boss has a retreat there every year. Eddie got 3 or 4 rooms. We'll surprize momma and take her on a doopy ride:')

Well I fasted in readiness for the blood work. (My sugars were still high after fasting._ They should get the results tommorow.
James bullied me into going because he cares so much. He's right and I love him for it. : )

Hi to you both! Do either of you know the place Ellensboro, near Parkersburg area in WV at all? We have seen some property near there, including one in Harrisville. We plan on making a trip maybe soon, but I just wondered if either of you ever ventured that way! : )
