This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
lol More like Josh (JJ). Cody is his fathers son, all over.
I'd love to but I was thinking about maybe going back to ElCampo this weekend.
If it's El Campo I'm going Friday night. I need to be back by 6pm Sat. If it's Gaveston I'll leave here Sat night. That's the plan right now anyway.
I just noticed this beautiful horse for stud on horsecity.
Dang those fees can be extreme! Is $2000 a normal rate these days?
Yes it is easier then say, a bumper pull horse trailer. Plus, fifth wheel/goosenecks are easier also. It's just me getting used to doing it again.
That's pretty high. Probably a stud who has been showed/ won alot of points/money, and has also proved that he passes his "good" qualites on. What kind of horse was he?
Becky
A palomino. I'll go see if I can get that picture.

2000? I'm choking. The boy across the street is 250 and I'm wanting a discount:')
I just lost my DSL for some reason. I had to go thru probably 5 minutes of the sugar sweet computer operator. Finally, I had enough and before I thought, I said s%^*, enough ,ok? I get a "I'm sorry. I didn't understand that instruction. Did you say.... Finally I got a real person but he couldn't speak much English and I'm hoarse. So I tell him I want to talk to the computer agAIN. He didn't know what to say. He just kept trying to tell me my phone number was something completely different. Finally, I said look I'm the nice one in this family. I'm just gonna have my husband call you, ok and hung up. I have no patience today:'(
LOL!! It'd make me cuss too! If companies are going to hire people to be customer service reps, they ought to at least be able to speak english well enough to be understood by the average person. I'll bet the call center he was working at wasn't even in this country.
He acted like every time I said anything he had to get help.
I have NO patience for automated telephone systems.
The funny part though was be careful what you wish for. I was communicating better with the computer:')
Oh - I agree. That's why each horse will have his own run with stall access all the time. Only the ones that want community pasture turnout in addition to that will be turned out with a group.
I wouldn't want to have only the choices CindyDawg has, a group setting where the horse gets beat up, or a stall, nothing else. I want them all in their own runs.
That would be very nice. We made it work though. I was thinking about what you said the other day and she did it the way you said you would , only backwards. She has about 5 very agressive mares. Instead of pulling the 5 out she pulled the 2 meeker ones out. I saw Beckys post about knicks. I can live with that. They get it playing. This was much more than that though. What works for one doesn't always work for another. IMO anyway.
Okie acted so glad to be "home" We kept him in the stall the first night and then bathed him. He acted like someone that hadn't had a bath in months and loving it. Then he ate a little grass and walked over to the pasture. He wanted in.
It was an abscess. The vet found it quickly and released the pus. He also said Tuffy's heels are collapsed and we need to shoe him differently, probably with a pour in pad instead of regular pads with his eggbar shoes.
When I first pulled Tuffy out of the stall, the first thing the vet said was he could be foundered. It was all I could do to keep from busting out crying. That certainly would have been the icing on the cake of my week.
So what's the plan of care?
I loose interest pretty fast when dealing with someone who does not speak or has trouble speaking English, and is working in Customer Service.
On a sad note I am considering taking spanish communication. Once I get out of school I might need it. I'm still debating on that though.
