ATLANTA -- If television's "Crazy Cooter" has his way, fans of the "Dukes of Hazzard" may be speeding away from a new movie version of the cornpone classic faster than the Duke boys running from Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane.
Ben Jones, a former Georgia congressman who played the wisecracking mechanic on the popular series from 1979-85, said profanity and sexual content in the film make a mockery of the family friendly show.
"Basically, they trashed our show," said Jones, who now lives in the mountains of Washington, Va. "It's one thing to do whatever movie they want to do, but to take a classic family show and do that is like taking "I Love Lucy" and making her a crackhead or something."

The first season of "Dukes" is in the $3 bin at our Wal-mart. Maybe I'll get it next time I'm there.

James did that!
Oh cool. Maybe I'll check the sale bin at my local walmart.
LOL! Sure blame it on James :-)
He likes computers. He'd probably like "Dukes of Hazzard," too, since it's got a loud car. He loves the Ferrari in "Magnum, P.I."
This thread is already more entertaining than I expect the movie to be.

Ahh Cooter, I knew him in the old days.......
when he was a drunk, out of work poet/"actor".
I could post some pictures of James the Wonder Baby ... but I'll spare you.
I won't see the movie, even when the video's in the library. Willie Nelson is always fun to watch, imo, but it's not worth the rest of it.
"Breaker one, breaker one, might be crazy, but I ain't dumb, Craaaaaaaazy Cooter comin' at ya, any of y'all Dukes at home on the Hazzard net?"
Nahhh, I didn't watch it too much growing up! :-D
My 20-year-old wonder-baby has discovered the Dukes on CMT, and wants to paint his pick-up bright orange. I told him it would look too much like a CalTrans truck.
LOL! James is 18 months. I think I was about 11 when the series started.
I watched the show, but it was only because I thought Luke Duke was a hottie. :-)
There was a guy who was on a local talk radio show speaking about this. He was saying that they shot the film two ways one with profanity and the other with out. So it sounds like the profanity won out (of course.)
I'd rather watch the Coy and Vance season again than this movie.
