It's hard not to notice a 15 year old girl who can drive a golf ball 300 yards.
Me, I'm just happy to land in something the color green.

Who is Michelle Wie? She may be next Tiger Woods (make that Tigress Woods). I believe she is only 16.

If she were to go on to win the title, it would be the biggest "high profile" upset in all of sport.

Breaking Par? Yes. Breaking News? No.Good line! I would say it qualifies as breaking news, though. Wie has become a societal phenomenon that goes beyond mere sport and has interested millions of people including many non-sports fan.
Maybe I'm a bit biased since I am a golf nut and a Wie fan.

She is the little piggy's favorite, because he went "Wie! Wie! Wie!" all the way home.

She carded 5 birdies to his two. Makes me think she was pounding it by him. 15 years old and female. Ouch. Once in a generation talent perhaps.

It is breaking news in the sense that it JUST happened. I was following the live scoring on the USGA web site and posted it within a couple minutes of the score going final. I realize it's not earth-shaking, but as mentioned in another post, I do think her exploits are of a significance going beyond sport and of interest to millions of people who normally could care less about golf.
