I need an interesting government statistic to write about. It needs to be a one page "feature article"
Any thoughts?

Half of Americans are below the average income level.
Another half of Americans are above average energy users.
And a third half of all Americans are below average readers.
And I stopped at four children because every fifth child born in the world is Chinese and I don't speak the language.

I think it was the 1988 democRAT convention where Teddy declared that democRATS would not rest until every American had an above-average income.

Half of all democratic voters are either dead or alive.

The problem is that the ratio of dead/alive > 0. (Sometimes I think it's > 1)

How about how much money should be in the Social Security Lock Box if Congressmen would have left their grubby hands off of it. Interest included of course.

Okay, here's your statistic: 97.4%. Do you realize how profoundly foolish your question is? No one who lacks thoughts to begin with and who lacks knowledge of how to do research, should be trusted with a computer keyboard and a modem. There's too much baseless cr*p on the Internet already.
For almost ten years I have written a weekly column on the Internet. It is a hard discipline. Every week I go through maybe a dozen subjects that might make the cut. Sometimes I write a whole column, and then trash it in favor of something more compelling that comes along later.
But to do that, you have to have a philosophy to begin with. You have to absorb tons of information from many sources. You have to analyze that to find something of interest. Then you have to write about it in a way that is worthwhile, and different from what everyone else is doing.
In short, to write you have to think. To think you have to have an intellectual framework, and a huge source of information. Do your homework, for several years, then report back.

How about a stat about what the combined salary of our federal public servants are for a day? I think that would be interesting to find out.
