The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh...I was just eating some of my attic yogurt with honey (from that beekeeper that got those bees out of tree) and wheat germ.
It's very good. And I'm very proud of it.

Now I think about it, I had yogurt and blueberries and cereal for breakfast, yogurt for a snack, and then yogurt with tabouli for lunch.
I guess I like the stuff.
Just made up a batch of seitan. Mom used to make it fairly frequently - it's a lot cheaper than meat, and now that gluten is available in even regular groceries, it's really easy to make. Used to be, the main method for making it involved kneading a flour and water dough under running water until just the gluten was left. Lot of work.
It doesn't really taste like meat, but it's good, and I've been wanting some. I'll fry a cutlet in olive oil for dinner, with broccoli and onions on the side. Mmm...

Heh...
Tastes more like seitan...
It's a lot more like meat than some of the soy substitutes, in any case. Chewy.

Nope - not unless you want to purchase something, and then you just select your items into the shopping cart and make your payments online. Then the stuff gets sent to you. That's all :D
I get incentives and credit for however much I am able to sell in a period of time, which is why there is a 10+ day limit for the e-show. If I sell over $350, I get 150.00 credit towards books of my choice for $45.00, which quite exciting to me, because I have quite a few books that I want to order from them to use for the daughter's homeschool this year.

How did I miss this???
Will it be outpatient? My dad had a hernia and it was taken care of and they sent him home that day...and get this...he had an absolutely flat abdomen when it was over with! Like a young man's abs! LOL We got a big kick out of it.
If it's not outpatient and you are going to be in the hospital for more than 2 days, let me know...I have more info to share.

The TRISMS rep was at the homeschool convention Clare and I went to today. They recommend a bunch of Usborne books as references for the curriculum.

I wish I could.
I think it's just the way it is...I hope when I'm gone and my jedis hear my voice in their head they hear "Good job!" and "Great idea!" and "You can do it!" and even "You might wanna think about that a minute."
Heh heh...

At the homeschool convention, I attended a workshop presented by a homeschool mom of 5 who has written an entire Literature curriculum based on LOTR!! It sounded and looked fantastic so I bought it for Clare! It's called "Literary Lessons from the Lord of the Rings", and it includes analysis of Tolkein's trilogy, and ties it in with classics like the Iliad, Odyssey, Aenid, Beowulf, the Arthurian legends, and some Shakespeare.
The website is Home Scholar Books . It's designed for 7th grade and up.
I had to laugh, Corin, because she said her husband is 'fantasy challenged', so she's from a mixed marriage, too.

My Mom had just started learning to play the cello the year before she passed away. For years she listened to our music from the outside - she had a teacher tell her when she was little that she'd never read music or be able to play anything, and though I think logically she knew that was silly, it was kind of a mental block. But she always loved the cello.
She got to perform with us twice at church related gathering and was sooo happy with the instrument. I'm really glad she had that!
And of course she loved Yo Yo Ma.
