At the homeschool convention, I attended a workshop presented by a homeschool mom of 5 who has written an entire Literature curriculum based on LOTR!! It sounded and looked fantastic so I bought it for Clare! It's called "Literary Lessons from the Lord of the Rings", and it includes analysis of Tolkein's trilogy, and ties it in with classics like the Iliad, Odyssey, Aenid, Beowulf, the Arthurian legends, and some Shakespeare.
The website is Home Scholar Books . It's designed for 7th grade and up.
I had to laugh, Corin, because she said her husband is 'fantasy challenged', so she's from a mixed marriage, too.
THAT sounds COOL!!! Ive got it bookmarked now!! I am going to be out of town over the weekend, but will definitely take a look at it when I get back.
Thank you SuziQ - I love what I have seen of the Usborne books. Chik-fil-A apparently has some kind of set up with Usborne and DK publishing, because when Erin would get her Kid's Meal, they would usually have a booklet of various topics in with the meal (instead of a goofy toy) and I loved the way the books were set up.
Heres my link to my Usborne page
