Went to one of those receptions that were actually a sit-down dinner...we had place cards for that one.
Yogurt
custard
creme brule
keifer
ETC...
My friend sent me a long Pdf file this morning with instructions on what to do when we get to Narita Airport. It is very detailed and very helpful. Her husband works out of his company's Boston office sometimes, so he's bringing a cell phone that's keyed for Japan and dropping it off at the home of Clare's friend who's also going with us. That way, we can call Gina from the airport to let her know what time to expect the Limousine Bus to arrive at Shinjuki Station, which is not too far from their house. The bus will be great because it will save her an almost two hour drive to the airport, and it's only $27 each way for us, which isn't too bad considering the convenience of it.
Heh...
Steve just emailed me with a list of my accomplishments this summer. Got a lot done!
Wonderful! I hope to see pictures! I just know you're excited and going to have a wonderful time!
Ugh, I feel awful. Honey, please don't let me leave without coffee again.
Shame your mom didn't have a box fan handy...
What camera did she end up getting?
Next week, huh? Wow...I've been thinking of that as being a long way off. But then, I guess you've been talking about it for a while, and time *has* gone by, even if it doesn't seem like it in my little world.
Tell us if you run across any interesting foods.... :)
I wish I could bring ya some - can you take a break and hit an espresso stand?
Hard to get through security with a box fan.....
Yeah, I'll probably take an early lunch and grab some espresso on my way back.
Maybe if you had a running start?
Please take lots of pictures! I love looking at pictures of foreign places, and Japan is vey cool.
The rolls turned out pretty good. Not as strong a taste as I like...so I'm going to let this second batch of starter sour for a couple of days or more.
Also, the rolls are fine, but I think a loaf would be better. It's got the characteristic large air holes though...very nice texture.
I have the second batch in a jar up in the cabinet. In a canning jar, you know? With the ring? But there's no lid, I put a coffee filter instead of a lid, just screwed it down with a ring so it won't build up pressure.
Vey clever! I might have to steal that idea from ya.
I use coffee filters to strain my bacon grease through too...you end up with a fine product. I strain it right into a canning jar and keep it in the fridge.
I got the triple 7!
Lucky you!
We have to keep talking, that Harry Potter Thread of Doom is catching up.
I gotta go to the store.
Expect me when you see me!
