The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

What I think it boils down to, and what I think Hair managed to accomplish, is that the wedding day should be exactly what the bride and groom want. I agree that we got exactly what we aimed for, but I think what we most wanted was for everyone to have a good time. I think too often the focus too self-centered and forced. The entire focus of the bridezilla is how perfect the wedding looks, how it appears in pictures, and that includes caring how well all the rules are followed. I think many people want the wedding just so they can have the pictures of how it looked. It's the princess plan born of dream wedding magazines. The focus is on the two hours of photography while the guests wait. My critique and advice is against weddings that give very little thought to whether the guests will enjoy being there. Are they standing around in uncomfortable underwear or are they having a good time?

Oh yeah, the cult didn't drink...at least not publicly. I suspect the grand poohbah and his Missus had a thing for wine...
...to go along with their clothing allowances, car allowances, housing allowances and expense accounts.
No, I'm not making that up.

Are they standing around in uncomfortable underwear or are they having a good time? Well, for me, underwear wasn't an issue for your wedding...

I think many people want the wedding just so they can have the pictures of how it looked. One of my favorite pictures from my wedding is the one with SSQ and me, and my Mama and Daddy. Daddy happened to look up just as the picture was taken, and it looks like he's rolling his eyes, thinking "When is this going to be OVER!" It is a hoot, and captures him perfectly!
Before Andrew Sullivan's recent conversion to the idea that homosexual marriage is a human right, I remember reading a comment by him that most homosexual men don't want to be married, but he knew a few who would love to have a wedding! Makes me think of bridezilla planning for the perfect 'event'.

Wow. What a cult. All that's missing are the underage "handmaidens". Least, I hope they were missing...

Corin is a refuge from a cult.

LOL.
Well, "Func_plat" should work for an elevator in Doom3... BUT.
It isn't quite what you SHOULD use for an elevator.
So I'll just have to keep poking around to see what I can convince it to do.
And the trolls lately have been beyond lame and into "ignore" territory.
Quite horrible.

Ugh, I forgot to have my coffee this morning, and am about to collapse here. At least I have a can of soda in the fridge.

Sourdough update...
I made the recipe this morning and made the dough into rolls. Got three pie pans full of rolls. They are rising now...have been rising for just an hour and already double in size. They smell fantastic! I'm going to let them rise another hour then then bake them.
