The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Evening is close enough.

You want that drink in a shot glass, pint glass, or just a funnel? :-)

So cool! What a gorgeous place! I wanna go! Wow, Tokyo Tower and Akihabara... never saw a real photo of Tokyo Tower before. It's weird, that place looks just like anime.

Please tell Clare, "You saw the Fullmetal Alchemist movie, I hate you" for me.

The "Darth Vader and schoolgirls" ad is a little... weird. Man, I bet you guys had a blast.

Evening.

[sip]

I'm watching the first Star Wars movie. The Empire has some major IT security problems.

Ergo... no Cisco Pix firewalls. :-)

The Tokyo Metro was really interesting. There are ads everywhere!! The whole city is full of advertising! Gina said that she enjoyed not knowing the language right now because otherwise she'd be suffering from information overload!

It's an amazingly safe feeling city. We let the girls go out by themselves, and they'd stay out until the trains stopped running at 11, and we were not particularly worried about them, even on the half-mile walk from the station back to the house. They were never bothered by anyone.

They really enjoyed Odaiba Island. Clare has been trying to catch some early episodes of Digimon because a lot of it takes place on Odaiba, and they recognized places like Pallet Town and some other locations. They were hoping to go to Joyopolis, a big amusement park where the giant ferris wheel is located, but it was closed until further notice, which was strange. There was no reason given.

Yah... No VLan on their internal physical switching. But R2D2 *was* always the property of the Senate, and therefore had a login from the Old Republic, which is where the Imperial domain controllers would've gotten their intial SAM database... all of the Empire accounts would've just come over from people's Old Republic accounts, but apparently they never purged the stale accounts from the SAM.

Funny, that. :-)

I've heard before that Tokyo "feels" safe. I'd like to visit sometime. Did you have trouble getting around at all, with all the signs in weird characters?
