The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That church where the Marine's services are going to be held is where my "old" support group has it's co-op classes. We had our meetings there too.

Unbelievable coincidence. Are you going to notify the old group?

Perhaps this can be a unifying event that inspires reconciliation?

Got it! Very nice pictures! I especially like the Hakone ones - just gorgeous! Also the kitty pictures. ;-) That cat petting place is just *weird*...but interesting.

I sent it to my egroup and since many are members of both egroups (I'm not), I told them to pass it on. I also gave the phone number where I verified.

Apparently the Japanese love cats. They let them roam all over the place! I guess they're a good 'city' pet. Not too many people have large dogs, though we did see a woman walking TWO big labs one night. She must have a house like Gina. She'd never be able to have those dogs in a typical Japanese apt.

I saw several long haired doxies in Tokyo. Didn't see any of the regular short-haired variety!

When I saw those dogs in that stroller I laughed out loud. I asked the owners (who were not Japanese) if I could pet them and take their picture, they said "sure". The dogs were just as sweet as could be; they didn't bark or whine or anything!

The girls got a series of pictures we're calling "The Cats of Enoshima Island". They were up in the bushes, down under the tables in the outdoor cafes, up on tops of motorcycles, everywhere!

Supposedly the long-haired variety are a bit mellower due to whatever whatever was bred into them for that coat. Or at least I'd heard something to that effect. I'd imagine that'd be a major asset in an apartment dog...
