The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You don't want to show the house with full closets!

And don't just pile it around the yard either :~D

Well, they're not too bad since I did the flylady thing. I think we'll get a POD and store stuff in it eventually.

Good Lord, Hair! That looks terrible! At least you don't own your property...the value would plummet!

My neighbor, the one I love so much that is so sweet...is a slob. She had an entire wooden captains bunk bedframe in her front yard for months. It rained on it, it had snakes living in it. She also had a car just parked in her front yard that never moved.

I would just groan, because I really love her, but no way anyone would look at my house and not see that situation over there.

Her in-laws came weekend before last and apparently they cleaned it all up.

Well, with the store there too, I'm not sure it's value as a residence could suffer any more, but maybe! Anyone that was smart who owned this place would have put the house back in the woods by the witch's circle.

It was the painting, de-cluttering, cleaning phase that took a long time for me.

Heh, we have four of the sections of the old sectional sofa from our basement sitting in our back yard. They go out with the trash on Thursday. I'm sure our neighbors are THRILLED seeing them, along with the boards, etc. from the beginnings of our remodeling project. ;o)

Whoa! Seriesly stuned!

Matthew's friend just went home...they played on the Xbox and they swam and had a good time all round. His mom stayed here and visited with me. She's going to the reorganization meeting tonight too, but is considering joining both support groups.

It was a good visit...reminded me that it's not the end of the world.

I'm sitting here debating the dinner issue also. Our typical routine consists of me asking, "So. What do you want to do for dinner?" and Big'ol answers, "I dunno. What do you want to do for dinner?"

We'll probably have chicken.

Most likely the nausea is due to the 60z refresh rate on the screen the tv. Watching TV with full motion video the refresh rate is not usually a problem even for someone hypersensitive to such things (I am). With a video game the brighter colors and more common still graphics you are more likely to have a problem. It can happen that over time you get more sensitive. I use to work on Hughes on an old B&W Sun terminal with Interleaf. After about 2 months I could not even glance at one of those monitors without getting headache. Jedi Knight II also did that to me. I played it for a while with no problem and then I was not able to play at all without getting ill. Certain kinds of motion on the screen can do it to me. Lots of indoor 1st person view point with short jerky motion can really mess me up. I have to limit the amount of time I play 'first person shooter' type games if there is a lot of close quarters. With a video game system about the only help is to use and LCD screen (refresh rate is not visually detectable) or try some other game and hope it is better. Also sitting farther back helps a lot since proportionally your brain is getting less data that it does not like. Motion and visual related nausea are funny things. Usually the first thing that I notice is my eyes try to close like I am sleepy. That is a subconscious reaction to visual stimuli your brain does not like and a good clue that worse is coming soon. I am sensitive to such things so I have spent some time paying attention to my reactions. Hope it is of use. I find that once you reach that 'snap' point it is hard to deal with that particular stimuli again. It is probably a preemptive defense the brain puts in the subconscious.

wow. I wrote this reply at about 9am and have been to busy to hit 'post' until now.
