The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It's dark and sinister looking. The pawnbroker guys are behind a grill. They've already accepeted a pawn for a stolen lawnmower and laundered some money for the mob.

Oh great. Now the help has just blabbed to some shady characters about what's in the safe.

A pawn shop with mob connections? Horrors!

Never trust a guy in a trenchcoat...unless you're in an old movie where every just about every guy is wearing one.

Do you know the procedure for adding a new moderator to a Yahoo e-group? I'm moderator for a homeschool message board, but someone else added me. We now need a new one because one of our moderators died last month, and she was the one who knew how to do this.

The owner can make a new person a moderator. I think only the owner can.

If the person that made you the moderator is the owner and if she was the one that died, I think you have a problem...I think you might have to contact Yahoo and ask them what to do...I don't know.

I'm the owner of several Yahoo groups. Like the Hobbit Hole Yahoo group...I own it, but other people moderate it.

I went in today and took out the old BA CHEF leadership that I had set as moderators. It broke my heart.

Dang you're young! That's the year I graduated from college!

Well, if it helps any, Jen is still younger!

Sorry about the mess with your friend and the homeschool group. ((HUGS)) That type of thing seems to be the natural course of groups. I had to part ways with my quilt guild - not for anything nearly as bad as what you shared - but because I can't deal with retired old ladies' obsession with Roberts Rules of Order.

LOL!!! Oh yeah, I'd be shouting "LIGHTEN UP!"

Well, since I posted that letter in the egroup that the egroup will remain active and that I am not going to be joining the new support group, a few people have written me privately thanking me and asking "What should we do?"

BA CHEF is having another meeting Tuesday and my advice to them is "Get the word out that everyone should come and hear the other side of the story!" So far, all most people have heard is the new support group's side.

I read an interesting novel not too long ago (Pattern Recognition very esoteric and artsy, written in 2nd person & present tense...) that came up with a neat way to think about jet lag. The lead character, a woman, traveled back and forth between London and Tokyo and suffered from nasty jet lag. To her, jet lag is 'caused' by the fact that the soul doesn't travel as quickly as the body and it takes a couple days for it to catch up with you - voila jet lag.

It was one of the few memorable idea in the story.

Well....I guess it was a good movie...except that all the problems weren't solved.

They guy stood up to the mob and the assistant got shot. Shop owner walks down the street, The End.

One of those gritty film noirs.

I still don't want to go a pawnshop.
