The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Everything is funny. Everyone is funny. They just don't always know it. :~D

You know, it's been a close call at some times. But a sense of humor has been just about the only thing that has kept me off of "America's Most Wanted."

Heh, that's the way to look at things.

Remember, everyone has a reason to be here on Earth. Some of them to serve as examples to the rest of us, of what not to do.

Nope. Haven't talked to the vet yet. They gave me another month's worth of medicine. Guess she'll be on the medicine until the iodine treatment.

After getting the 30k service plus two new stickers on the front end (of the car) I kinda want to give the walllet a break before major cat-treatments anyway.

I'll have to call and make reservations for her.

Cataracts, ick! Good luck with the surgery

The conveyor belt sushi place was a hoot! We just sat there and grabbed plates as they went by. I think we tried at least 6 different kinds. There were two on each plate, so we shared. I'm glad I got a slice of melon though because several of the pieces had wasabi under the slice of fish! Yowsers! The beer helped, too. ;o)

I've got a tube of the stuff in the fridge. Sometimes my appreciation of wasabi exceeds my tolerance level. :)

Did I ever tell you I ran a cross-country (through woods and such) 5K when I was seven months pregnant??

LOL Ranks up there as probably one of the top five hardest things I've ever done! (Quitting smoking is #1, running a marathon is a distant #2 with natural childbirth a close #3. I'm glad I did these three things, but don't want to EVER do them again!)

I used to love to run but series running requires series shoes and series shoes cost some series cash.

Maybe someday....ASG.

Gina's lending us an old Army duffle bag to help pack the extra stuff. One of the coolest things I've gotten is some chopsticks. I got a set for Clare and me and for Paul and David, our names inscribed on our own pair in Japanese. I also got a nice Japanese cookbook for myself and some smaller ones for the boys. I got some regular chopsticks for SSQ and David cause they are not as interested in the Japanese stuff.

Last week we went South and west about an hour out of Tokyo into the mountains at Hakone. It was lovely. Tomorrow we're going down to Enoshima Island and then up to Kamakura. It will be the first time I've even seen the Pacific shoreline, and it will be from the Japanese coast. Way cool!

Another good bike trip! I'm starting to really like this. Am getting a consistent 5 1/2 minute mile for the first three, then the last half-mile has so many stop signs and traffic lights, it takes me longer just for that.

Rosie, if you get a job at The Ugliest Building, I'm telling you this bike trip is not too scary at all...

I got a Kyocera ceramic knife for myself and one for my nephew and his new bride (as of this coming Saturday). Gina says it the best thing for slicing tomatoes because the acid in the tomatoes can't dull the blade! It was fun seeing all the cool kitchen stuff. I got two silicone ice cube trays that make 'cubes' in the shape of penguins!

I should get a ceramic knife for the squirrels so they can cut my tomatoes. *grumble, grumble, grumble*
