Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
You should let us have it since we're already in the Mountain of Fire...
Yup, it was cat abuse, but our feeble attempts at trying to cut out the mats was even worse!! Right now her fur feels like cut velvet, kinda cool, but it will grow back fast. I hope she didn't get too cold last night; we had most of the windows open, but not in the room in which she was sleeping. The coldest nights of the summer and I get her shaved. I'd say my timing was off just a bit!
Statement as of 10:20 AM EDT on July 27, 2005 ... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening... Temperatures in the upper 90s along with high humidity levels will create dangerous heat indices near 110 degrees. A cold front will push through the region early this evening putting an end to this heat wave and bring the chance of showers and thunderstorms. An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... avoid excessive time in the sun... and check up on elderly relatives and neighbors.
If'n that's the cold front that blew through here, you'll love it!! It is so beautiful out there right now, it's unbelievable!!
Yep. We have the same advisory.
We were like that last week... sorry for you but it says cold front tonight so tomorrow you'll feel better.
Is she the kind of cat who likes to get under blankets? I expect she did okay.
Miss Cat used to get mats in her fur. I have one of those rubber groomers that kick out a lot of fur. For the mats, I use the comb. But I try not to let those mats get too big...she doesn't like it when I pull on her fur.
Miss Cat gets a treat today...left all the doors in TheSunRoom open.
Hard for me to even imagine.
We went a minor league ball game last nite. My work organization reserved a block of seats and it was a politically expedient social event. So I hauled Big'ol along.
He grumbled about how uncomfortable it was (100+ on the heat index), and given my druthers we would have stayed home. ~But~ our seats were in the shade and there a was a nice breeze - and it was acutally more comfortable than my office has been. In fact we all agreed we'd rather work at the ballpark than in our building. *sigh*
Mmm... cold front...
I had one of those mats, 'til Louise shredded it with her teeth and back claws, she hated that thing!! It did do a really good job, though, for as long as I had it.
These just got so out-of-hand, I'd try and brush her and she would tolerate it for 30-45 seconds and then start biting, hissing, spitting. And the more I neglected the mats the worse they got. I am hopeful that I can keep everything under control now that we're starting with "fresh" fur.
MMmmm....fresh fur....
Miss Cat doesn't mind brushing or combing as long as I'm not pulling on her fur!
With shade and a breeze, heat can be tolerable. These hot nights we've been walking Gyps to the park, it's on a ridge and there are big trees and always a bit of a breeze. You can feel the heat radiating off the streets and sidewalks 'til you get to the park, then it seems 10 degrees cooler.
I just can't believe your office situation, this is 2005, for heaven's sake. Can your boss schedule an all-day meeting in your office space for the management that makes physical plant decisions? People can't work at their best when it's that hot, leaving out the fact that you have to shut the computers down because of the heat, which must really reduce work productivity!
Sigh, Louise has never liked to be brushed, or held, or snuggled. I suspect she might be the product of a domestic and a feral cat, but I don't know. The only living thing she has had any affection for was our old lab, Gifford, and we have pictures of her snuggled up next to his belly when she was a kitten.
We cannot get out. They are coming...
A LARGE TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 850 MILES EAST OF THE LESSER
ANTILLES IS CONTINUING TO PRODUCE CLOUDINESS AND SCATTERED SHOWERS.
THIS SYSTEM HAS BECOME A LITTLE BETTER ORGANIZED...AND SOME GRADUAL
DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES
WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH.
ANOTHER TROPICAL WAVE IS LOCATED ABOUT 600 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF
THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. WHILE SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS
LIMITED AT THIS TIME...CONDITIONS APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR SOME SLOW
DEVELOPMENT OF THE SYSTEM TO OCCUR OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS IT
MOVES WESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH.
It must be bad.... they're SHOUTING AT US.
Thanks...
