Temperatures in the upper 90s along with high humidity levels will create dangerous heat indices near 110 degrees. A cold front will push through the region early this evening putting an end to this heat wave and bring the chance of showers and thunderstorms. An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... avoid excessive time in the sun... and check up on elderly relatives and neighbors.
