The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Any chance you'd have time / opportunity to print something today, by the way?

Uh yeah, I should as long as Creepy McPervert leaves me alone for fifteen minutes.

Tell Creepy McPervert your roommate is ex-military and will hurt him if he doesn't get a life.

He doesn't hafta know I spent four years sitting at a desk...

OK, sending docs.

If that guy is really bothering you, you should bring your HH Knife to work...just for practice...

It'd be more *fun* to mount a cork board and target and practice throwing the Shootmoot knife...but I suspect that'd not go over well in a college building.

Spoil sports.

I don't think that would discourage him, I mean my "you're scum and should be disinfected" attitude doesn't.

He's really, really trying my determination to be a nice civil person on the outside. I feel mildly guilty about how very much I despise this person. Am examining my motives to make sure I'm not hating him for the wrong reasons.

Need to be thick, yet. Be cheaper than bringing in a tree, though.

I suppose they wouldn't like you damaging the actual wall.

Just tell 'em you're trying out for the school knife-throwing team...can't be as dangerous as throwing javelins.

Speaking of knife-throwing, if Louise had opposable thumbs she would probably want to practice on me. As OB mentioned, we gave her a bath Sunday. The plan was to bathe her and then brush the mats out of her fur. Well, needless to say, that didn't work out too well!

Yesterday, I had to take her to the vet and have her shaved, exceopt for her head and tail. I keep telling her she will feel much better, but she's not believing me. Miss Annie is really freaked, and being very, very good (for a change!)
